When I was a kid growing up in Northwest Montana and there was a custom of older kids taking younger kids out "Snipe Hunting". It entailed taking kids out and leaving them in the dark someplace. I think about that every time I see a Wilson's Snipe calling to make new friends. Here's one I saw last weekend at Swan Lake. I hope you have a great day.

We started our day Sunday in a driving snowstorm and as much as I like the moodiness of that kind of day, the highlight of the day was getting to watch this Great Gray Owl hunting along the road. It eventually was successful, and after catching a vole it flew off into the timber to enjoy lunch. I hope you all have a great day.

I was privileged to get to travel to Normandy a couple years ago. When you stand on the beach at Normandy and you realize that the men had to cross all that expanse the whole while being shot at and bombed with artillery it boggles your mind to think they were able to do what they did. There truly is no comparing what we go through in a normal lifetime to anything they saw in the first few minutes that morning. Thank a Vet whenever you can. Remember DDay and tell the folks too young to know what they did that day.
