I love to photograph landscapes and bring home the beauty that I am privileged to see. My favorite moments as a photographer are when I can combine a beautiful landscape with beautiful people that I photograph.

There’s something special about experimenting with light, movement, and a group of talented athletes willing to create with you.

I had such a great time photographing the Wasatch Drill Team and pushing beyond the traditional team photos. We played with light, slowed down the shutter, added movement, and experimented with ways to capture not just what they look like, but what they feel like when they perform.

Drill is already art in motion—my goal was to let the photography become part of that art.

Some experiments work. Some surprise you. And every once in a while, light and motion come together and create something you couldn’t have completely planned.

Thanks, Wasatch Drill, for trusting the process and being willing to play with light with me. This is the kind of photography that keeps me excited to create.

I honestly didn’t think I was going to get much out of the Perseid Meteor Shower that night. So I spent the evening doing what I love: night photography in Goblin Valley. Before heading to bed, I figured I’d give the meteor shower a shot. I set my camera on the tripod, pointed it toward the stars, programmed it to keep taking long exposures until the battery gave out…and went to bed. The next morning, I started going through the images.

I was shocked.

Hundreds of shooting stars streaked through my photographs. It was like God’s laser show across the sky. But one thing really surprised me: pay attention to the horizon. When we watch a meteor shower, our instinct is to stare straight overhead. But some of the most dramatic meteors I captured were lower in the sky, streaking toward the horizon. Against the dark shapes and strange hoodoos of Goblin Valley, those were some of my favorite frames. So next time you’re out watching a meteor shower, don’t just look up. Watch the horizon too.
Sometimes the best part of the show isn’t directly above you—it’s where heaven seems to meet the earth. After watching this 100 times, I noticed a larger shooting star with smoke trailing around seconds 4- 6...to the right of the Hoodoo. See second video

I love good light. Had a great weekend with the amazing photographers David Ward John Haymore and Steve Howa

There is a stark difference between good light and bad light, and those of us who spend our lives chasing the light can tell the difference. We get up before sunrise, stay long after sunset, watch the clouds, study the weather, wait for the moon—or in this case, wait for no moon at all. We work hard to put ourselves in the right place at the right moment; seeking the right light can turn an ordinary scene into something extraordinary.
This night in Goblin Valley was all about creating and capturing the right light.
With a new moon overhead, the galactic core of the Milky Way came alive behind this hoodoo. I used a subtle low-level light to gently illuminate the sandstone—just enough to reveal its shape and texture without competing with the stars.

That balance is what I was chasing.

Because photography or life isn’t just about what you see.
It’s about how the light lets you see it.

And I’ll probably never stop chasing it.

I hesitated to post this because most people know me as a landscape photographer—and I’ve spent a lot of years chasing mountains, stars, and dramatic skies. 😂

But photography has never really been about one genre for me. For years I’ve also dedicated myself to photographing the Miss Wasatch program and exploring all kinds of photography that put people, personalities, and stories in front of my lens.

This was an unforgettable evening with the Miss Wasatch royalty out at the Salt Flats. There’s something pretty special about combining an incredible location with incredible people—and I’m really proud of how these images turned out.

There are photographs you plan... and then there are the ones that simply happen. I have no idea who this paraglider is, but for a few unforgettable moments he soared above the high summits of the Uinta Mountains as the setting sun painted the sky behind him. From where my drone captured him, the view was breathtaking. From where he floated, I can only imagine. Layer upon layer of mountain ridges faded into the distance, each one softer than the last, creating a masterpiece of light, shadow, and atmosphere. Sometimes the best photographs remind us just how small we are—and how beautiful this world can be. Here’s to unexpected moments, wild places, and sunsets that leave you speechless.

A couple of weeks ago, John Haymore and I had a blast chasing color, light, and beauty up Albion Basin. Since parking is nearly impossible during wildflower season, John rode his e-bike while I zipped around on my moped. We’ve shared a lot of great memories over the years, but exploring the mountains together on our two-wheeled machines is definitely another one to add to the list. And what a year to be there. Albion Basin was absolutely off the charts. Hillsides were covered with wildflowers in every direction, the mountain air was crisp, and every turn revealed another breathtaking view. No photograph can fully capture what it feels like to stand in the middle of that kind of beauty, but I’m grateful for the chance to try. Experiences like this remind me to slow down, appreciate good friends, and give thanks for a Creator who paints the mountains with such incredible beauty. 🌸🏔️

Moon setting over Timpanogos this morning was amazing. It was setting with a soft haze in the background, just enough light bending to make things interesting. Such a pleasant surprise to wake up to.

The Salt Lake Temple is beginning to emerge again after years of inspired, careful renovation—and it’s powerful to witness. For a long time, it stood covered, under construction, out of view… but never out of purpose. And now, slowly, beautifully, it’s being revealed. Stronger. Reinforced. Prepared for the future.
It feels symbolic. Because we all have seasons like that—times when God is strengthening us, refining us, even when it feels like parts of our lives are hidden or under construction. But He’s not finished. And when the time is right… He reveals what He’s been building all along. The temple is back. And it stands as a quiet, steady reminder that the Lord is still working on us too. ❤️
