I made a few friends on my last hike. They may have only loved me for the potential of a cashew, but I enjoyed the attention. When he stood to sniff my lens, I almost lost it! 🥰

Not long ago a reminder on my iCalendar popped up: Potential Trip to Moab.

I’m not going to lie, I’m pretty bummed we can’t get down to the warm sunny south this weekend. I was longing for seeing the stars for what they truly are, campfire smoke-scented hair, hiking in my new boots, making memories with friends, and probably taking some sweet Polaroid photos.

Spring has sprung! I’m so grateful! I won’t be surprised if it does snow again before summer though. Let’s be real. It’s Utah. But I don’t mind now that the flowers are emerging. The good feelings of spring are back and I’m trying to elevate them above any other feelings as we continue on in . What’s blooming in your yard, greenhouse, or windowsill right now?

Just as social distancing was becoming a thing, we made it a point to get out into our world, but away from people. We quieted our minds and spirits to listen to the birds sing, the breeze blow snow from pine boughs, and the fallen trees bend and flex against each other. The forest has so much to say should we quiet ourselves and make time to listen.

There’s still plenty of mountain snow for snowshoeing adventures. I’ve decided this is my winter sport. It helps when you find someone who shares your sentiments. Enjoy the time you have... at a safe distance.

As you sit in your homes practicing social distancing, imagine yourself beside the sweet green boughs of a pine tree. Remember the smell of sap, composting needles, and fresh air.

It’s snowed again here in Salt Lake. Winter isn’t truly over yet. I’m enjoying looking at out my window at a different sight though as I too stay home counting the days and reminding myself this is temporary.
