Memorial Day in Cross Plains, WI is a special and family friendly day. It’s a time to remember and honor those who gave their lives defending our country. American Legion Post 245 does a fantastic job with their tribute and with help from The Cross Plains Area of Commerce, the Lions Club and the Village of Cross Plains a great event is built in support their efforts. Volunteers wake up early to start preparing chicken and food for the bbq. The Parade begins on Park street near Park School Elementary at 11am and is followed by a ceremony and presentation outside of Legion Post 245. Food, drinks and activities for the kids take place at Legion Park. It is a wonderful small town event and great community gathering. I tried to capture the essence of it with this short video with interview from Ben Swanson from the Cross Plains Area Chamber of Commerce and Lyle ‘Doc’ Esser who is a long time Cross Plains resident who’s father actually started the parade many years ago. It was great working with the new hires at Fuhrman & Dodge in Middleton, updating their professional headshots.

It was such a special evening Friday meeting up with the Sharpe Family around the Capitol in downtown Madison following Morgan’s graduation from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.

The Capitol made the perfect backdrop to celebrate such a huge milestone and capture this exciting season for their family.
Congratulations, Morgan! Wishing you all the best in whatever comes next.

The Middleton High School baseball team plays the Strike Out Cancer game with Sun Prairie East each year. The teams collaborate to raise money for pediatric cancer research and honor loved ones who have been in the fight. This year hits even closer to home, we lost a great coach, mentor and family friend in Jaime Guerrero this year. He has already been honored many times in our community and conference, but that is just the sort of impact he had over his 20 years of coaching. A big hole has been left in our community. We got to take the Mobile studio to the high school to help the players create these portraits for the game. Join us tonight at Sun Prairie East High School. The game will also be streamed on ESPN Madison.

Sunday mornings in downtown Madison never disappoint!

We spent Sunday morning with the Carney family capturing a mix of urban charm and a quick stop by the crabapple trees in bloom. The kids were absolute champs braving the cold temps and wind, and you’d never even know it.

This is exactly why we love early morning city sessions… quiet streets, soft light, and space to actually enjoy the moment before everything speeds up.

Trout Days in Cross Plains, WI is this weekend! This is a fun event that we got to cover and document last year. This video, that we created in partnership with the Village, and gives you an idea of what it is all about. This year there is an upgrade to the stage, as the Lions Club completed the new pavilion in Zander Park on the shores of the Black Earth Creek.
