Memorial Day in Cross Plains, WI is a special and family friendly day. It’s a time to remember and honor those who gave their lives defending our country. American Legion Post 245 does a fantastic job with their tribute and with help from The Cross Plains Area of Commerce, the Lions Club and the Village of Cross Plains a great event is built in support their efforts. Volunteers wake up early to start preparing chicken and food for the bbq. The Parade begins on Park street near Park School Elementary at 11am and is followed by a ceremony and presentation outside of Legion Post 245. Food, drinks and activities for the kids take place at Legion Park. It is a wonderful small town event and great community gathering. I tried to capture the essence of it with this short video with interview from Ben Swanson from the Cross Plains Area Chamber of Commerce and Lyle ‘Doc’ Esser who is a long time Cross Plains resident who’s father actually started the parade many years ago.
