I’ve taken thousands of photos over the years, but the ones that stay with me are never just about the image itself.
They’re about feeling something.

The strength.
The softness.
The trust.
The quiet understanding between two souls who have carried each other through hard things.

This wasn’t a planned shot. It happened in-between moments — the kind you almost miss. But when I scrolled past this image, I stopped immediately.

There’s something about the presence of the mare beside her. Steady. Grounded. Protective. And the softness in the woman who no longer has to pretend to be hard all the time.

Two beings who have been through hell and back together.
And somehow, because of each other, found healing there too.

Some bonds don’t need explanation. You can feel them. 🖤

Clinic Share #2 : FENCE

I learned quite a few things here.

1. ᴀʟᴡᴀʏs ʙᴇ ʀᴀᴛɪɴɢ.

2. ɪɴ ᴄɪʀᴄʟɪɴɢ, ᴘᴜᴛ ʏᴏᴜʀ ꜰᴏᴏᴛ ᴏɴ ᴛʜᴇ ᴄᴏᴡs ᴇʏᴇ.

- At the clinic I ran into a super pushy and stubborn steer. My immediate reaction, (while riding my red mare with all our red mare energy combined ✨) was to push back. But that isn’t how you win that moment. Ride ꜰᴏʀᴡᴀʀᴅ and get your foot on the cows eye. Then and only then will the cow turn for you.

3. ᴡʜᴇɴ ʙᴏxɪɴɢ, ʙᴇ ᴀssᴇʀᴛɪᴠᴇ.

- When that cow enters the arena, get after it! Take its attention! Don’t give it the chance to size you and its surroundings up. Give it a run for its money right from the get go 🔥

- I asked Jake specifically about boxing because it has always felt more reactionary for us rather than “owning the cow”. Turns out, the boxing skill development takes a few years for the horse. As a limited aged event horse, it will start feeling very reactionary; but after they have done it for a few years your horse will progress to learning to read the cow better than you. That is the moment if will feel like “owning the cow”. Give it time.

3️⃣ Days until Winnemucca! 🚀
