One of the strangest things about getting older is realizing the little kids you grew up loving aren’t little anymore.

I still remember when Teagan was born. I remember holding her as a baby, watching her grow up, and having her by my side as the flower girl in my wedding. And now somehow, she’s graduated from high school.

A few weeks ago, I had the privilege of photographing her senior session on the beach. As the sun dipped lower and the waves rolled in, I kept finding myself caught between seeing the little girl I remembered and the incredible young woman standing in front of me.

She is kind, beautiful, thoughtful, driven, and such a light in this world.

Teagan, I am so proud of you and all that you’ve accomplished. Watching you grow into the person you are today has been such a gift, and I cannot wait to see where life takes you next.

Jordan & Chris told me before their engagement session that they were nervous because they had never had professional photos taken before… meanwhile, these two stepped out into the mountains and absolutely crushed it. 👏🏼

What I loved most though wasn’t just how good they looked in front of the camera, it was how naturally they fell into each other. The laughter, the running through the fields, the goofy little moments, the forehead kisses, the way they kept making each other smile without even trying. It never felt forced. Just two people genuinely happy to be together.

And honestly, after hearing their story, it made so much sense. They met when they were just 13 and 14 years old through their families camping together, dated as teenagers, broke up, found their way back to each other, and now here they are 7 years later getting ready for forever. 🥹

There’s something really special about a love that grows up with you. 🤍

A slow morning at home with the Magnani family ☀️

When Mikayla first reached out about an in home session, she told me she was nervous because she felt like their home was “too bare.” But the truth is, what makes a home beautiful isn’t perfectly styled rooms or filled shelves. It’s the life happening inside of it. The love shared there. The memories being made in the middle of ordinary days.

And this morning was exactly that.

Cookie dough stolen straight from the mixer. Dancing in the living room to his favorite song. Tiny hands pushing tractors through dirt. Books being read, cuddles shared, backyard exploring, and moments that probably happen a hundred times over in this season of their lives.

Nothing overly planned. Nothing forced. Just them, exactly as they are right now.

That’s what I love most about in home sessions. They hold onto the little things we think we’ll always remember… until one day they’ve changed. The way your toddler plays. The sound of laughter echoing through the kitchen. The comfort of being wrapped up in mom and dad’s arms in the place that means home.

It was slow, tender, playful, and full of so much love. Truly the kind of morning that reminds me why I love documenting families this way so much. 🤍

THIS IS SEVEN ☀️😎

Our littlest girl, our sweet ray of sunshine, our Livi… is seven. Somehow, I blinked and the little baby I used to rock to sleep became this vibrant, hilarious, wild-hearted girl. My mama heart can’t quite keep up with it all, the ache of missing who you were while loving so deeply who you’re becoming. I miss those baby days and even yearn for them sometimes, while also wanting to bottle up this stage forever. And yet, there’s something so beautiful about watching you grow into more and more of yourself with every passing year.

Olivia Lee, you are a force to be reckoned with. You have a fire and fierceness in you that I envy. You are bold, strong, energetic, kind, and so deeply loving. You light up every room you walk into with your smile, your giant personality, and your boundless energy.

You love with your whole body. In the way you throw yourself into our arms for the tightest, squeeziest hugs, the way you instinctively reach for my hand, the way you always want to be curled up close to the people you love. Even the way you say “I love you” feels big and overflowing and full of your whole heart. Everything about you is felt deeply, expressed loudly, and given freely. I hope you never lose that.

You are smart, curious, silly, and endlessly full of life. One minute you’re playing babies and dolls, the next you’re upside down doing gymnastics across the living room or climbing absolutely everything in sight. You move through this world so fearlessly and fully yourself, and watching you grow into this beautiful, wild, carefree, fierce girl has been one of the greatest privileges of my life.

There is no one like you, Livi. Being your mama is everything to me. I’m endlessly proud of who you are and endlessly grateful I get to be the one loving you through every stage of your life.

Happy 7th birthday sweet girl. We love you more than words could ever hold. Life with you is beyond our wildest dreams. ☀️🩷💛

I was driving to Ventura in full sunshine thinking we had lucked out with the weather… and then out of nowhere, the fog rolled in thick over the coastline. The kind where the ocean disappears into the sky and everything turns soft and muted. ☁️

And honestly? It ended up being so beautiful.

The Hernandez family met me on the coast surrounded by wildflowers in bloom, salty air, crashing waves, and the sweetest little moments unfolding nonstop. Koa was soaking in every second, holding flowers in her tiny hands, feeling the sand on her feet, smiling at her parents, and stealing kisses between the waves.

There was something so peaceful about this session. No big sunset. No dramatic light. Just a foggy Ventura evening that felt slow, intimate, and alive in the quietest way.

And truthfully, sessions like this are exactly why I photograph families the way I do. Nothing has to be perfect to be beautiful. Sometimes the unexpected weather, the sandy feet, the wandering, the pauses in between… end up telling the story better than sunshine ever could. 🤍

The wildflowers were in full bloom, the sun kept playing peek-a-boo with the clouds, and little man kept playing peek-a-boo with me. 😉

He was all smiles with his mamas, completely content cruising around in his little red car, stopping to look at the cows, grabbing flowers, and just getting to be exactly who he is in this season of life.

This is the kind of session I love most. The kind where there’s space for exploring, playing, wandering, and letting little ones lead the way. The Canas family showed up fully present with each other and it made documenting this chapter for them feel so effortless and sweet.

Just a slow morning together in the sunshine. 🤍

Being their mom is the best part of me.

It’s the role I dreamed about as a little girl, and somehow it’s been even more beautiful than I ever imagined. My daughters. My girls. They are everything to me.

These girls who love so deeply and unapologetically. Who are strong, loyal, compassionate, silly, fierce, and full of light. They have a fire in them I wish I had at their age, and getting to watch them grow into exactly who they are meant to be is one of the greatest privileges of my life.

They teach me daily about love, patience, joy, resilience, and what really matters. I’m forever grateful that I get to be their mama, their safe place, their comfort, their home.

What a gift it is to raise them. What a dream it is to love them.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mamas out there. I hope today and every day, you’re reminded how deeply loved, needed, and important you are to your children and your family. 🤍

A little life update because April came and went so fast. ✨ Between a girls trip, sports, wrapping up my final spring and motherhood minis, and editing nonstop, last month was such a full one in the best way. And somehow May is even busier with Olivia turning 7, end of the school year festivities, more sports, and 8 sessions on the calendar this month. Life feels a little chaotic lately, but also really beautiful and full of so many things I never want to forget.

My final round of spring and motherhood minis truly felt like the perfect way to close this chapter though. The sweetest families showed up and brought so much magic with them and I’m starting with the Bogan family. Baby girl will be here so soon and Carter spent the evening exploring, searching for parks, and leading the way while Candace and Nick simply followed right along with him. There was so much joy in letting the evening unfold naturally and just watching them be together.

The sweetest reminder that family photos don’t have to be perfectly posed to feel meaningful. Sometimes the best moments happen when you slow down, let your kids lead the way, and simply love on each other exactly as you are. 🤍
