For those who have multiple breeds that you don’t want mixed, what’s your setup like? Do you end up with multiple coops/runs? Keep rooster separate and have different pens for when you want certain hens & rooster? I have some time to figure it out but just seeing what ideas are out there 😆

Does anyone know what this bump is between her toes? It doesn’t seem to bother her. I just want to make sure it’s nothing to worry about.

Advice needed: I helped opened these 3 shrink wrapped chicks by the end of day 22, and they don’t look too good. Their hair (and skin) looks to be getting drier and matted. I lowered the incubator temperature from 100 to 99. Humidity around 70%. Is there something I could do to help these chicks? They’re still breathing and moving a little from time to time.

Hen crowing help…
One of my hens, has started crowing. Obnoxiously, everyday in the morning. This started shortly after our dominant hen went broody for the second time in 10 weeks. We have no rooster & aren’t allowed a roo where we live.
She lays an egg just about everyday, and goes about her day like she always has, she just crows every morning.
How the heck do I get her to stop? If a neighbor complains, I can lose my permit, and have to rehome my girls, so I absolutely need to get her in check, without rehoming her, because she’s the bestest girl

This controversial picture posted by someone else is actually my pic from my run.

1. Yes I know it’s “backwards” I did it the correct way for months and tons of mess so I tried something new
2. Yes it’s under a cover protected from rain
3. The mess on the ground is from where it was on the other way literally 5 minutes before I swapped it and took the pic
4. It actually does help reduce mess and waste for me. They aren’t going through the feed as fast and a lot less mess.

My husband had the idea to cut part of a tree.
He screwed in a few extra branches to created that fanned staircase look. Feels like a true habitat! Love how it turned out.
These brahmas are only about 12 weeks old so we still have nesting boxes to put in, but they won't need those for awhile. 💗

So after a week of my poor chicken feeling unwell, I took her to the vet and we found this HUGE egg inside her! The poor baby had to undergo surgery to remove it and yes I went that far because she's my baby 🥰 praying she recovers well ❤️

For weeks my chicken was broody, we didn't have a rooster so none of our eggs were fertile but she just wouldn't give up no matter what we did. She was determined to be a momma. I contacted some local farmers and got her some fertilized eggs and with that, and almost 3 weeks later, last night her dreams came true. She won't let me close so I don't know how many there are but I can tell you she is now a mama!! Way to go girly! Update there's 6 so far!!!
