The Classic journey ENDS with a 32-mile crossing from the Isthmus of Catalina to the Manhattan Beach Pier. The actual journey starts many months before!! Go ahead and tuck yourself in… OK🤷♂️
Walking home after an epic sunset session with your friends talking about your best waves…
Check out my good friend Mark Levy’s () spread in the latest issue of SouthBay Magazine (), written by .Monaghan. I’ve been photographing Mark ripping out front for years so it was really fun to be commissioned this time!
Mark has expanded his many talents to painting local scenes. Follow him to see his work and to experience his masterful storytelling. Link to the artical in my bio.

Happy World Oceans Day🤙🏼
Ocean metaphor for life #1001...
Perspective is everything. I was 3 seconds and roughly 10ft away from breaking the surface when I took this photo. The scene above was plenty beautiful but had I been reluctant to enter the depths I would not have seen the beauty of the light poking holes in the darkness.
“It’s not, who’s going to let me; it’s who is going to stop me.”

Rain on your wedding day?!!
No one prays for rain on their wedding day but in this case it highlighted the beautiful brides and everyone that came to celebrate them.
I remember nothing but love and laughter on this day and
Thank you!😌🙏🏻
Coors Light campaign up in Alaska. The sun came up at 10am and set at 4pm. Some of the coldest, shortest shoot days I’ve ever had. Such an adventure.
A photo of me taken by the insanely talented on a project we worked on together two October’s ago.
I don’t get many photos of myself so I appreciate the gift Ricky. Thank you😊🙏🏻🤙🏼
An article about our trip to Mavericks written by Kevin Cody.
The most powerful of the six back to back Northwest swells was forecast to hit Mavericks last Sunday, Jan 8. Three longtime El Porto friends, big wave surfer Bob Sievers, photographer Ken Pagliaro and…
Golden hour...
I’m often appalled with the way humanity paints itself. I’m way more impressed with the way nature does it.
A shameless selfie...
I couldn’t help it! A few years back I had the opportunity to photograph a mock rescue with the U.S. Coast Guard from the air and water.
Before we left the ground they put me in a flight suit and told me that I was officially part of the crew and that I needed to familiarize myself with the inside of the helicopter in case we needed to ditch in the ocean.
I was told that the first thing that would happen once we ditched was that the helicopter would flip over due to the weight of the rotors and immediately start sinking.
Before we took off they put me in my seat and told me to visualize my surroundings and try to imagine being upside down while removing my safety harness and pulling the the explosively charged levers on the window that would blow the window outward and flood the cockpit so that I could escape.
That’s when I thought to myself🤔... what the f # am I doing?!!😳😄
We all saw it😱...
gracefully free falling from the ledge of a 40+ footer at Mavericks.
As heinous as it looked it was the wave behind this one that broke on his head and held him down that really hurt, he said afterwards.
One of my favorite directors, and an all around great human to work with, holding the torch on the set of The Chattering a few years back. The set was legitimately creepy!
Pretty dramatic sunset tonight.
The Pacific Ocean has been on fire with surf.
Tow rope, paddle... whatever it takes. It all takes balls trying to out run that scary f___ing vortex.
Unknown (to me) standup paddler. If anyone knows I’d love to give him props.
The cliff at a Pillar Point was lined with spectators trying to catch a glimpse of the kraken swallowing surfers whole.
with his feet planted firmly on the docks before charging Mavericks hard. Wil’s dad came out to watch him surf for the first time and witnessed what a gladiator his son is.
An absolutely mental day at Mavericks. From our captain dodging close out sets between the nav buoys on the way out and back, to the whole gallery of boats and skis going full throttle to get out of the way of a 50+ wave about to close out the channel. Adrenaline fueled ALL DAY😄🤦♂️
