Just a reminder we are only a few months away from winter again. This is a photo of CSX Train L315 working the Levan Spur in Livonia and is switching cars for Valassis’s docks at the very end of the track. This photo is a follow up on StormySky Rail Productions’s post about Wisconsin Central boxcars and if they are still seen. Although this photo was taken January of 2024, this customer still sees WC, IC, GTW, and other various CN-family boxcars. Throwback Thursday: It's the beginning of the journey for southbound CSX Train Q637 after completing his departure out of Stanley Yard and is currently making the slow grind through Walbridge Yard in the suburban town of Walbridge, Ohio. The train consists a lash-up of CSX's prime, but aging EMD locomotives ranging from GP38-2s, GP40-2s, to the iconic SD40-2 locomotive leading the pack. The train's scenery will quickly change from the urban Toledo backdrop to the rolling farmlands until it's destination in Columbus. Taken January 2014. Copyright © Racer Rail Photos.

It’s throwback Thursday as CSX Train D717 brings interchange traffic from Detroit’s Rougemere Yard to Lake State Railway in Wixom. This was the first few months after LSRC took over north of Plymouth to Flint where this train and D737 were shuttling cars between Wixom and Detroit. D717 would run one shuttle during the day, then D737 would run a second shuttle in the evening. In the present day (2026), road trains M325/ M324 handle majority of the traffic, but there can be a seldom interchange train between Wixom and Detroit that runs as train U999. Taken July 2019. New York Central L-3a 4-8-2 “Mohawk” 3001 is expected to depart Elkhart, Ind., this fall, bound for the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society shop in New Haven, Ind., where it will be returned to service.

It’s golden hour in Plymouth’s Old Village District as CSX Train M328 is lined for the siding at CH25 (note the signal indications at the beginning behind the Chicane Plymouth restaurant) and will meet Train M329 around the corner. The train has three locomotives on the head end as they have another massive train out of Detroit that will travel the hilly territory to Grand Rapids. Copyright ©️Racer Rail Photos.
