Everyone tells you not to go into business with family.
I couldn’t disagree more.
Bakerture started as an idea, a camera, a lot of long nights, and two people trying to figure it out as we went. Over the years, Rita and I have worn just about every hat possible. Sales, operations, marketing, shooting, editing, answering emails late at night, raising kids, making big decisions, and occasionally disagreeing about how those decisions should be made. 😂
But building this together has been one of the best parts of the entire journey.
This week, Bakerture was named Best of Loudoun for Video, and obviously, that’s something we’re incredibly proud of. But awards like this make me think less about the trophy and more about everything behind it.
The conversations at the kitchen table. The risks. The stressful seasons. The wins. The times one of us believed in the business a little more when the other needed it.
Working with your spouse isn’t always easy. Neither is running a business. But there is something pretty special about building something with the person you’re also building a life with.
So yeah, they can keep the advice about not going into business with family.
I’d choose this partner every time.
Thank you to everyone who voted for us, trusted us, referred us, and supported Bakerture over the years. Best of Loudoun 2026. Pretty damn cool.
