6 FACTS ABOUT NEWBORN SESSIONS 🤍
1. Your baby may not sleep the entire time — and that is completely normal.
A lot of the newborn images you see online show sleepy babies or calm awake babies, but my saying is: you can’t hear photos. What you don’t see is the time it may take to soothe a wide-awake baby to sleep, or the 10 photos taken to get that one perfect awake shot with little arms staying still 🤣 We always leave plenty of time for soothing, feedings, and breaks in between poses.
2. Baby will probably p**p or p*e — and that is totally okay.
The number one thing parents say during a session is, “I hope they don’t p**p or p*e on your stuff!” Honestly, if baby messes bothered me, I’d be in the wrong profession 😂 Most babies will have at least a little accident during their session, and everything is washed and sanitized afterward anyway, so it is never a problem.
3. Not every baby loves every pose.
If your baby lets me know they are not a fan of something, we skip it and move on. I will never force a pose or keep baby in anything uncomfortable. Safety and comfort always come first. Sometimes babies need a little time to settle, but the second they become distressed, I pick them up.
4. Older siblings may not always want to participate.
Their whole world is changing, and that is a big adjustment. Some siblings warm up quickly, and some need a little more time. If they are not ready to hold or pose with baby, we will choose a safer option. My goal is always to keep everyone happy, comfortable, and safe.
5. The studio will be warm, so dress accordingly.
Parents and siblings are always welcome to dress in layers so they can stay comfortable. We can do a quick change before family portraits if needed. A warm studio helps keep baby cozy while unwrapped and reminds them of their first home — mom’s womb 😆
6. You get to relax.
You have enough on your plate at home, so during your session, let me take over for a little while. You can sit back, breathe, and enjoy watching your sweet baby be photographed 🤍
