Earlier this week, I was feeling up to trying a short hike, so I decided to visit Brewster River Gorge here in Jeffersonville. It was a warm and muggy day, and as you can probably tell from the video, this is a favorite place for people to visit and cool off.

Because of its popularity, I’d advise avoiding this hike on high-traffic days like weekends and holidays. Once temperatures start dropping in the fall, the crowds drop to a fraction of what you’ll find here on a hot summer day.

If you’re looking for an easy hike along a gorgeous, gin-clear mountain stream, then the walk to Brewster River Gorge might be just what you’re looking for.

I photographed this sunset after a day of vending at the Chester Fall Festival. The colors were so vibrant that people were coming out of their homes to admire the sky. It was one of those evenings you just couldn’t ignore.

Did you know there are two Prospect Rocks on the Long Trail?

The northern overlook is located in Johnson and features a lovely view of the Lamoille River Valley. The southern vista, just outside Manchester, offers a dramatic view of the town below Mount Equinox.

If you’ve only visited one, the other is well worth adding to your hiking list.

What kind of photos do photographers take when they’re sightseeing with family and friends? I decided to answer that question with a gallery of images. I took all of these with my iPhone 16 Pro and made some basic adjustments to the exposure, contrast, and white balance in Lightroom.

My wife and I hadn’t taken a day off together in so long that I couldn’t remember the last time. So, after getting some new wheels, we decided to spend Tuesday road-tripping through the Green Mountains.

We started our journey by crossing Smugglers’ Notch to Stowe and then followed Route 100 to Waitsfield, where we crossed Appalachian Gap to Bristol. From there, we climbed Lincoln Gap, which brought us back to the Mad River Valley, and then continued south on Route 100 through Granville Gulf. Our plan was to cross Middlebury Gap, but it was closed, so we kept going south to Brandon Gap and crossed over to the west side of the Green Mountains. We enjoyed a drive around Lake Dunmore before heading home by way of Brandon, Huntington, and Richmond.

I’m really disappointed to see that someone recently tagged one of Vermont’s most iconic waterfalls, Moss Glen Falls in Granville. Someone make it make sense. Why do people visit beautiful places just to f@&k them up?

EDIT - While I understand people want to be helpful, please let people with experience cleaning up graffiti in natural areas do the actual work. If it’s not done properly, it can cause more damage.
