The best part of my job isn’t delivering a gallery...

It’s getting to know the people in front of my camera!

Family photos on a wedding day don’t have to involve yelling for Uncle Bob while someone else has already disappeared to cocktail hour 😂

With a little planning ahead of time, family formals can actually be one of the easiest parts of your wedding day! Having a photo list ready, making sure everyone knows where they need to be, and choosing someone who can help wrangle the family means we can knock out those must-have photos without spending forever doing it.

Because the goal is to get beautiful photos with the people you love AND get you back to celebrating as quickly as possible!!

Everyone’s watching the couple during the ceremony... but you know where my eyes go sometimes? 👀

I’m watching Mom trying not to cry, Dad looking over at his daughter with the biggest smile on his face, your grandparents holding hands in the front row, and your best friend wiping away tears after promising everyone they’d keep it together. 😂

Those little reactions only last a second, but they’re some of my favorite moments to capture because they’re part of your story too!

Half the time, my couples don’t even realize those moments happened until they see their gallery. Getting to show them all the little pieces of their wedding day they never got to see themselves is honestly one of my favorite parts of this job!!

Because “just act natural” is possibly the LEAST helpful thing I could say when there’s a camera pointed at you 😂

Most of my couples aren’t professional models and they don’t magically know what to do with their hands the second I pick up my camera. That’s where I come in! I’ll give you enough direction that you never feel like you’re standing there awkwardly wondering what to do, then give you space to actually interact with each other.

And THAT is where so many of those natural, candid photos you love come from.

So if “we’re awkward in photos” has already crossed your mind while wedding planning, you are exactly the kind of couple I’m used to working with. 😉📸

By the end of the night, the formalities are over, everyone’s having the best time, and honestly? Comfort wins. And judging by this dance floor, I’d say they had the right idea. 🤣

I know it can be tempting to think, "I do my makeup every day...I can probably do it myself for my wedding too!"
