A beautiful summer family photo session at Grace Haven Farm 💜

I love when families ask me for places that are more intimate… somewhere they can actually relax and enjoy themselves without feeling like anyone is watching.
This flower farm was exactly that. The kids could run around, the parents could just hang out with them, and everyone could forget about the camera for a little while. It felt less like a photoshoot and more like a fun evening together, which is honestly my favorite way to photograph families.

May I introduce you to the Dirty Dancing Move? 🤭
This is the only photo from the Shoot & Learn storytelling workshop I hosted last weekend that I have touched so far… but I had to share this one with you already.
I am still working on many galleries in the background but most of you know me by now 😂 I always have to look into each gallery right away and edit at least 1-2 photos to get a feeling for it. The rest has to wait a tad now unfortunately even though I’m dying to work on the rest.

THE ART OF MOTHERHOOD ✨

Earlier this month, Angela | Maryland Motherhood & Family Lifestyle Photographer and I hosted our very first workshop together, and I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better night.
I’m so grateful to every photographer who joined us and trusted us with their time, their questions, and their willingness to learn alongside us.

We started the evening with conversations about business, storytelling, finding your own style, and a few more personal things in between. 😂 Because sometimes the best conversations happen when you stop trying to make everything so professional.

Then we headed to this stunning location to meet our sweet model family and put everything into practice with this beautiful maternity session.
Watching everyone photograph, experiment, ask questions, and find their own way of seeing the story was such a cool experience.

Maybe this is an unpopular opinion, but I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately…
I’m a photographer. I’m not really a content creator and it drives me nuts that these days it seems like a must that a photographers have to act like content creators. But honestly, I know it’s hard that we have to show up in the online world, but you can still choose how much you want to be present and how you want to be perceived. And if you want to be a photographer AND content creator that’s totally up to you. It’s just not for me. And this is the reason behind this post. Maybe it’s because I’m an early Millennial, maybe it’s because I am who I am but I wanted to make a point that I am not here to perform if that makes sense.

No one is going to believe me 👀…

but this was not a styled shoot! When this couple reached out to me about their wedding and told me about the creative vision they had for their engagement photos, I was internally screeeaaaaaming! We kept sending each other ideas and inspiration and when the vision finally came to life, I couldn’t believe it even though I was standing right in front of our set up. What have we just created? This night was more than epic! What started with lots of thunderstorms in the forecast turned out to be the most magical night we could’ve asked for. I am so grateful that Chelsey and Pat decided to work with me. 🫶🏻🙏🏻

Oh and if those got you excited now, there will be 183633672 more 😂 but I couldn’t fit them all in one post.

My sweet client had this vision of flowers, golden hour and a whimsical dress for her maternity session and these are the photos we took 😍 What a perfect night and I loved so much that she invited her parents to be part of this photoshoot as well!
