This past weekend, I had the opportunity to be part of something a little different — the Purpose & Pine Women’s Retreat at the beautiful Alford Lake Camp in Maine. 🌲❤️
And this time, I wasn't just there as the photographer. I was also a participant.
I got to experience the weekend right alongside these wonderful women — while, of course, still having my camera close by to capture the story as it unfolded.
From early morning coffee and yoga by the lake, to hiking, canoeing, swimming, campfires, great conversations, plenty of laughter... and s’mores made with some seriously GIANT marshmallows! 😂🔥
It was a weekend of stepping away, slowing down, connecting and simply enjoying the experience.
And maybe because I was part of it too, I found myself noticing all those little moments even more — the laughter in a canoe, a quiet morning overlooking camp, women encouraging one another, new friendships forming, and everyone gathering around the fire at the end of the day.
Those are the photographs I love.
Because photography isn't only about creating a beautiful portrait. Sometimes it's about preserving an experience and all the little moments that made it meaningful.
Thank you to Purpose & Pine Women’s Retreats for such a memorable weekend and for allowing me to experience it not only from behind my camera, but as one of the women there too.
I came home with lots of photographs, some wonderful new memories... and a whole new appreciation for just how big a marshmallow can actually be. 😂❤️🌲📷
