THIS IS WHAT IT’S ALL ABOUT!

Engagement sessions that actually feel like you. đŸ‘đŸ»

When we were talking about session plans and what Kylee and Chase wanted to do it went somewhere along the lines of “We met while I was bartending and we want to bring that into the session. We like pool and cribbage and we want to include our dog!” Say no more, let’s make it happen! The iron horse has a pool table and a fun vibe, plus they let us bring their pup! Who wore a bolo tie that was custom made. Kind of think Benny needs one now!

And while I absolutely love the small, candid moments woven throughout a wedding day, there is just something about sneaking away with my couples to make magic that feeds my soul. Seriously. I’m not kidding!!

It’s the pause in the middle of everything. The deep breath. The “oh my god, we actually did it” feeling finally settling in. And somehow that little pocket of time always creates the images that feel the most timeless.

This is also exactly why I prioritize building intentional timelines with my couples. I never want portraits to feel rushed or stressful or like we’re squeezing them into tiny pockets of the day. I want us to have space to slow down, chase good light, be creative, and actually make magic together.

Pretty photos matter to me because you deserve art that lasts. But even more than that, I want these images to feel like you long after the wedding day is over. These are the photographs you’ll hang in your home for decades. The ones your future kids and grandkids will flip through someday. The ones that become part of your family history. đŸ€

Mother’s Day looked different for me this year.

It arrived wrapped in layers of grief, healing, gratitude, and longing. There were no little footsteps running into my room in the morning or sleepy surprises in bed. This new version of motherhood intertwined with co-parenting will become easier, but for now it’s still raw. Underneath all of it, the sweater of my own inner child wounds that I still wear some days while trying to learn acceptance, peace, and softness in the process. Motherhood can hold two truths at once. Joy and grief. Fullness and emptiness. Healing and heartbreak. And that’s every day, not just Mother’s Day!

So wherever you are in your motherhood journey, I see you. Some of us are carrying the weight of the world in our hands. Some of us are carrying it quietly in our hearts. Some of us are longing to become mothers so deeply it physically aches. And some of us are just daughters who still want to be held by our mommas.

Holding space for all of you every day. I hope the universe gives you exactly what you need in this season. đŸ€

THIS is exactly the kind of wedding I will never shut up about.

When I first met Katie, we clicked instantly. She didn’t want just another wedding and I knew her day was going to be something special. Getting to bring her vision to life was such an honor.

This whole day was so intentional without feeling forced. His grandfather officiated the ceremony and all their grandparents blessed the rings before the exchange. We built their timeline to actually be present so they could enjoy time together, time with their people, nothing rushed. Also
the bubble dance party with their bridal party right after the recessional?? So freaking fun!! And the details!! I was obsessed. Chartreuse green + pearl accents, plus little touches like their grandparents writing notes on the cocktail napkins. Intentional.

This is what it looks like when a wedding is thought through in a way that feels like you. Again, an absolute honor to document the day as it naturally unfolded and to embrace the full creative freedom I was given. 💚

‘Til the landslide brought me down.

A friend told me a long time ago that rain was a good thing because it leads to the blooming of new beginnings. Of growth. Necessary for evolution and change. You could say the rain came. At first there was a foreshadowing. Clouds started to gather, the wind picked up, and thunder clapped in the distance. When that storm finally hit, the rain came. It soaked into everything. Flooding everything and with it a landslide that brought me down. It wiped out what had been built, what I thought I wanted. Even the roots so deep I thought hanging on could keep me safe, but eventually I lost my grip. I had to let go.

A reshaping of the mountain side took place. One that was not exactly wanted, but much needed. The last six months of my life have been a massive shift. The kind of change that forces you to look at your life and ask is this what I truly want? And if not, why am I still holding onto it. There has been grief that hurts so deep into the caverns of my chest, I could have sworn I’d split in two at times. Learning how to hold love with someone while recognizing it is not what you’re meant to stay in is probably one of the hardest experiences in life.

There is such a duality of “both/and” in my situation. BOTH a blessing that my life is taking a new shape AND yet such a loss of tremendous stability and comfort. Thankfully our love can continue to grow in friendship and our family with Myles. How grateful I am to have had photos documented in our home last fall. Even though it didn’t end up being the home that I thought it would be, it housed the chapter that needed to happen in this story. I hope the new owners fill it with as much love as possible because we sure did.

I’m learning to trust that even when everything shifts, even when you’re standing in the aftermath, your intuition has been there all along. Guiding you. Calling you higher. Asking you to face yourself, to rise, to meet the seasons as they come. To grow bolder.

This is exactly why I will always suggest sneaking away for sunset photos!

Not just for the photos, but for what it gives you. A pause. After the ceremony and cocktail hour, dinner and dancing, it’s a great time to get a moment to step away together and just be.
No one needing you, no expectations, no schedule. Just the two of you, finally married, letting it all sink in.

And of course this is also some of the most beautiful, fleeting light of the entire day.
Soft, cinematic, a little bit magic in the air.

But more than anything? It’s fun.

It’s where you loosen up, where we play, where you forget the camera is even there. Where your gallery starts to feel less like a checklist of a wedding day and more like a story you actually lived.

This is your reminder: step away for sunset.
