True story. About three quarters of the way through a this session their youngest looked up genuinely confused and asked his mom exactly this very question.

Because we were just playing. Running on the beach. Laughing. Them being together. Mom and Dad fully engaged, PRESENT.

That is the whole point.

My sessions are not what you think they are going to be. They are better. So much better that your kids will forget they were ever there for photos in the first place.

And you will walk away with images that feel nothing like a photoshoot.

5 things almost a decade in Wilmington has taught me 👆🏻

Some of these I learned the hard way (looking at you, South End parking). Some of these I say on repeat until I’m sure y’all are sick of hearing it (prints, prints, prints). And one of these is just… the truth about coastal fall, sorry not sorry.

8 years of sessions on this coast and I’m still learning something new every single time. That’s the fun part.

Guys… literally no words…

One of my goals in PA was to get out of my comfort zone, shoot in new places, and stretch myself creatively.

One person I’ve been fan-girling over is Dom, Grace Mae Photography | Family & Newborn | Bucks County PA. I have forever admired her ability to see light and tell a badass story, so I was determined to shoot alongside her on one of my trips north. AND omg, it was magic watching her creative process.

This session was raw, real, and 1000% true motherhood, with all the squishy and scarred places. She wanted to show all of it, after the journey she had to get there.

To all my NC mamas: I see both sides of you, and I’m here for both.

The part that wants to feel gorgeous and glowing and put-together, styled hair and all… yes, absolutely, that’s real too.

But also the part of you that just did the wildest, hardest, most beautiful thing your body has ever done?

That deserves to be seen exactly as it is.
No filter. Purely RAW version. Just the truth, and it’s stunning. 🤍

People always ask how I juggle it all.

This is a pretty accurate representation.

Equal parts creative chaos and mom life happening simultaneously at all times. On a good day it looks effortless. On other days it involves rage cleaning, an adult drink, and a questionable amount of chaos before I get productive.

But I love I wouldn’t trade it all for anything.

Hi if you are new here!

I am Emily. Mom of five, homeschool teacher by day, maternity and newborn photographer by calling, and a woman who takes her chickens very seriously.

I have been photographing expecting and new mamas in Wilmington NC for almost ten years. I show up to every session with a client closet full of gorgeous gowns, a playlist that sets the vibe, and zero tolerance for the idea that your family needs to be perfect to have beautiful photos.

What I am working on lately: booking fall sessions, planning some very exciting things for my past clients, and trying to convince my kids that yes we do have to clean the house again.

If you like real talk about motherhood, behind the scenes of a photography business, and the occasional snap of my chickens you are going to fit right in here.
