I had such a beautiful hibiscus flower on my plant today that I decided t get out my Lensbaby Trio lens and grab a couple shots during the brief moments of sunshine. This lens has 3 different effects (velvet, sweet and twist) on the rotating dial. The first photo is a straight twist effect. The others I put the lens in between each of the settings to see what would happen. I thought they gave a kind of interesting effect for just one flower.

Space X Falcon 9 from my house this morning. I wish I had thought to set up my mirrorless before I went to bed...but...thank goodness for cell phones. Last 2 photos are the tiny dot of it approaching from the distance, and the size of the plume after it the rocket had disappeared behind the trees. What an AMAZING sight!

Here are some photos taken yesterday at the Summerfest Art and Music Festival at the Walker World Organic Artist Retreat. This amazing property is an 11-acre eclectic, self-built compound and event space located along the Northeast Cape Fear River in Castle Hayne (North Carolina, just outside Wilmington for those folks not in the area). Created by founder Allen Walker, the rustic, open-concept property features reclaimed materials, historic local salvage, art-filled spaces. Although it rained most of the time I was there it didn't keep me from loving the experience, and bringing back the inner hippy in me. (Although the rain did interfere with my photo agenda.)

I sadly missed my last clutch of two bluebirds fledging a few weeks ago. But yesterday, I was surprised to look outside and see the momma and daddy bluebirds, and the 2 "babies" hanging out around my feeders. One started out on the ground but they both ended up just sitting for the longest time on the top of a shepherd's hook while the parents looked on. So darn cute! (Taken through my slightly dirty storm door.)

I went to Airlie Garden yesterday but it was late morning and all of the birds were in hiding, except for this one lone Cormorant sitting on a log looking like it was talking to itself. Also found 2 squirrels posing nicely for me.

Here is a photo dump of the fireworks at in my friends' neighborhood in Porters Neck last night. CRAZY fireworks. Had to run inside once, then came back out under a palm tree to keep some of the ashes away. But totally amazing to see!
