This is my sweet B. 🥹🤎

I’ve known her for quite some time, but I think this era of her life might just be my favorite. I’ve gotten to watch her grow, change, find herself, and blossom into such a beautiful human, inside and out.

For her birthday, she wanted photos of HER. And I just have to share these because I hear it all the time…

“Why would I do a photoshoot by myself?”

Because you deserve to document yourself, too.

Not just when you’re engaged.
Not just when you get married.
Not just when you become a mama.
Not because there’s some huge milestone that says you’re finally “worthy” of being photographed.

Document your face. Your freckles. Your laugh. The way you wear your hair right now. Your style. Your confidence. The season you’re in. The person you’re becoming.

One day, you’ll look back and realize just how much you changed without even noticing it.

So yes, book the birthday photoshoot. Put on the outfit that feels like YOU. Run through a field. Pick the flowers. Wear the cowboy hat. Be a little weird. 😂

You do not need another reason besides I want to remember her.

Running through the fog + rain somewhere in Western NC with The Patels. 🌧️⛰️

They’ve been married for a whole year, but never got the wedding photos they deserved. So we decided… why not recreate the day? The dress. The flowers. The first look. All of it. 🤭

And apparently Western North Carolina wanted to be part of the story too because we got EVERYTHING.

Pouring rain. Thick fog. Storms rolling through. A freaking RAINBOW. 🌈 Another storm. And somehow, a tiny little moment of sunshine.

And we just kept shooting through it all.

This is exactly why I love documentary, storytelling photography so much. You can plan the location and the details, but you can’t plan what the day is going to give you. Sometimes the “imperfect” weather ends up telling the BEST story.

One year later, The Patels finally have their wedding photos. And I’m seriously debating posting the entire gallery because THE COLORS. THE WEATHER. THE STORY. 😭🎞️

We danced, sang, hyped each other up, had a little “cheers to the bride” and basically just got to be GIRLS in the Grand Tetons. And as a girls’ girl through and through, this was good for my SOUL. 🥹🫶🏽

I met these two back in June and immediately knew they were my kind of people. So cool, so vibey, and the kind of love that just feels effortless to photograph.

We spent the evening running around this old house, dancing in the sunlight, getting a little blurry, a little cinematic, and making their engagement photos feel like them.

And nowwww we’re counting down to MAY!!! 💍🍾
