Apparently, I'm the kind of person who gets genuinely excited about custom ribbon. 😂

But honestly...I can't wait to wrap prints and gifts with these. It's one of those little details that makes opening a package feel just a bit more special.

Thank you, Blooming Belle Marketing, for helping bring this idea to life!

Sometimes it's the little details that make all the difference. ✨

I recently partnered with Blanca Madrigal of Blanca Madrigal Photography, and she selected two elegant color combinations for woven-edge Tiffany ribbon. I love how the finished product turned out! The woven edge, satin finish, and crisp imprint create such a polished, luxurious look.

Custom ribbon is one of my favorite ways to elevate a brand. Whether it's wrapped around a client gift, tied around product packaging, or used for a special event, it adds an extra layer of professionalism and creates a memorable experience.

Beautiful branding isn't just about a logo. It's about creating thoughtful details that reflect the quality of your business.

In the spirit of International Picnic Day, I offered the kids a breakfast picnic, and we had one of the calmest mornings we’ve had all week.

The air was fresh, the birds were chirping away, and we enjoyed a simple breakfast alongside a thinking game and conversation.

A reminder that life doesn’t have to be picture-perfect all the time. Often, it’s the little things—the small moments we make space for—that matter most.

Happy 🧺

Will you get outside and enjoy a meal or snack today? (Before it gets too hot!)

What's something oddly specific you're obsessed with lately?

For me, it's been:
• refining the direction of my photography brand
• reading more again
• biking with the family
• seeing creative possibilities everywhere—including the backyard

I’m reminded that creativity doesn't just happen behind a desk or behind a camera. It especially shows up when not trying: on a bike ride with the family; in the pages of a good book; over coffee on a quiet morning; or while imagining what a neglected corner of the backyard could become.

I think creative work gets better when life is actually being lived.

The photos I create, the stories I notice, the way I connect with clients—all of it feels richer when there's space for curiosity, reflection, and the occasional obsession with a backyard project.

What have you been oddly obsessed with lately?

"I'm not photogenic." It's one of the most common things I hear before a session.

Not because people don't look good, but because most people aren't comfortable being the center of attention. They worry they won't know what to do with their hands, how to pose, or whether the photos will actually feel like them.
What's interesting is that many of these same people are comfortable leading workshops, speaking at conferences, teaching classes, or presenting to a room full of people. But the moment a camera turns toward them, that's a different story.

Before this session, we talked about her work, her personality, and even her cat (who clearly deserved a guest appearance). The goal was to create images that felt approachable, capable, warm, and authentic to who she is.

Looking natural in photos has very little to do with being photogenic and much more to do with feeling comfortable, having guidance, and being given the space to be yourself.

No modeling experience required. Just a conversation, a little direction, and a willingness to trust the process.

If you've been putting off updating your headshots or personal brand photos because you're worried you'll feel awkward in front of the camera, you're not alone. Most of my clients start there.

What's the biggest thing that makes you nervous about being photographed?

A small moment from this week...

The night before Olympic Day at school (right before bedtime), my son informed me he needed a France shirt.
At first, I wasn't quite sure what I was going to do. I dug through his closet looking for a shirt I could repurpose. I was about to paint the French flag colors with acrylic paint when I remembered I had transfer paper tucked away (and luckily had just replaced my printer).
Problem solved.
Or so I thought.
Because somewhere in the middle of all this, my daughter informed me she needed a Minion outfit for the next day.
So after making the France shirt, I found myself sewing blue Minion-inspired pants and pairing them with a yellow sweater (thanks mom for the fabric).

Not exactly how I planned to spend my evening.

But the best part came the next morning.
My son lit up when he saw his shirt. My daughter proudly put on her Minion outfit. There were hugs, excited smiles, and that unmistakable feeling that, for a brief moment, Mom had pulled it off.

As a photographer, I spend a lot of time thinking about moments worth remembering.
Most of them aren't the big milestones.

They're the ordinary evenings that turn into late-night creativity projects, and the little faces that remind you exactly why you did them.

What actually helps people look natural in photos?
It’s usually not “being good at photos.”
It’s:
* feeling comfortable
* being guided clearly
* having movement instead of stiff posing
* wearing something that feels like you
* and not feeling rushed

Most people I photograph start by saying:
“I’m awkward in photos.”

And almost nobody leaves saying that.

The kind of client I'd LOVE more of right now...

The entrepreneur, creative, or professional who knows their brand is more than a logo.
The one building something meaningful and ready for images that reflect:
• their personality
• their work
• their energy
• their story
Not just headshots.

For Amy, that meant creating images that felt approachable, responsive, professional, and easy to trust. Her session wasn't about creating a version of herself—it was about capturing the person her clients already know.

And the best part? We didn't need hours of shooting or multiple locations.
Just a simple setting, a little movement, and intentional images that show what it's like to work with her.

I love creating sessions that blend strategy and real-life presence—images for your website, social media, speaking engagements, interviews, and all the places where people decide whether to trust you.

Especially for clients who want:
• a mix of polished and natural
• movement and personality
• environmental portraits
• images that feel authentic to the way they actually work

If that sounds like you, June is a great time to start planning.
