A year ago today, I photographed a 100° all-outdoor wedding in southern Washington 🥵 And it was worth every sweaty second.

Here’s 5 things I loved so much about this day:

1. The tiny piece of paper that started it all. During their first look, Isaiah pulled out the little piece of paper Claire gave him the day they met, when she slipped him her number while he was vending at the farmers market.

2. The unplanned guest greetings. Things were running a bit behind schedule, so we were still out taking photos as guests started arriving. I love the spontaneous snaps of Claire and Isaiah greeting everyone as they drove onto the property.

3. Claire riding into the ceremony on a horse like the queen she is.

4. The “love parade” after the ceremony. Not pictured here because I’ve decided it deserves a whole post of its own.

5. Their DJ played vinyl records and kicked off the dance party with The Shangri-Las’ “Give Him a Great Big Kiss”. 🫶

Happy anniversary, you two! ❤️

If the thought of wrangling your family for photos makes you want to elope… this one’s for you!

5 WAYS TO BREEZE THROUGH FAMILY PHOTOS 👇

1. CREATE A LIST - A clear, well-prepared list is the foundation of smooth and organized family photos. Include all the groupings you want, along with names, relationships, and any unique situations. The more detailed, the better!

Pro tip: To minimize the shuffle, start big and work your way down - begin with your largest grouping, then narrow it down to smaller groups.

I always review this list with my couples ahead of time so everyone’s on the same page.

2. KEEP IT SHORT & SWEET - Try to keep your list around 10-15 groupings. A shorter list means more time to actually enjoy your day. You can always grab additional, more casual photos with extended family and friends during the reception.

3. ASSIGN A FAMILY PHOTO WRANGLER - Choose a reliable friend or family member (bonus points if they’re a bit loud) to help gather people and keep things moving. This is especially helpful if you have a large family or a longer-than-recommended photo list.

4. COMMUNICATE WITH FAMILY AHEAD OF TIME - Let family members know in advance if they need to arrive early or stay after the ceremony for photos. A quick text or email sharing your timeline helps everyone know exactly where to be and when.

5. TAKE FAMILY PHOTOS IN ONE BLOCK - Plan to tackle all family photos in one focused chunk of time. It keeps lighting consistent and makes the process less disruptive overall.

Bringing back the wedding tips! ✨

I’m giving some oldies a little refresh so they feel more cohesive with my new branding. You may have seen a few of these before, but hopefully they’re still helpful!

Starting with… DETAIL PHOTOS

Not every couple cares about the small stuff, and that’s totally okay! But if you do want a few detail photos in your wedding gallery, a little prep goes a long way.

I usually start photographing details as soon as I arrive, so it’s super helpful and efficient if you gather your items of importance beforehand.

Here’s a checklist of things you may want to set aside:

• Rings - all three!
• Jewelry
• Dress + veil (or any hair pieces)
• Shoes
• Invitation suite
• Perfume
• Bouquets + boutonnieres - ask your florist to include a few extra blooms for styling
• Vow books or letters
• Any extra ribbons, accents, or family heirlooms

Today is an exciting day! Not only is it my birthday, but I’m also launching a fresh new website. 🎉

My old site was fine. It was clean. It was user-friendly. But it was also a little boring and forgettable and that always bothered me.

I’ve always known who I am. I just struggled to translate that into my branding. I wanted people to land on my website and immediately get a sense of ME - my personality, my approach, and what it’s like to work with me.

And I think this new site finally does that. (My favorite part is the little playlist link 🎶)

I’ve been working really hard on this for a while - overthinking, second-guessing, and obsessing over every little detail. I’ll probably keep tweaking things, but it’s LIVE and I finally have a site I’m proud of and a clear brand that feels like me.

Same ol’ me. Fresh new look. ✨

If you’re wedding planning and searching for photographers, you should play a drinking game where you take a shot every time you read the word “timeless”. Good lord, there’s a lot of overused blah blah blah in this industry. 🤪

To me, what actually makes a photo stand the test of time is when it preserves a simple moment of pure happiness, connection, and togetherness.

We don’t know what tomorrow holds. Time is fleeting. The people you love, the sweet in-between moments, the way it all felt - those things won’t last forever.

That’s why it’s such an honor to quietly creep around with my camera and document those tender little gems for you. 🖤
