There’s something so special about photographing a family in a place that already holds so much meaning to them. 🤎

This trail is one of their favorite places to hike together, so we spent the afternoon exploring some of their favorite spots, filling our pockets with little treasures, and letting their little girl (and pup, Tula 🐶) lead the way.

There session was filled with lots of love, playing and being silly, including a little adventure across the creek on the rocks. Everyone was carefully making their way across… until Tula came flying through and nearly sent Mom straight into the water. 😂

And honestly, those are the moments I love most. The unexpected, messy, silly little pieces of an afternoon together that you’ll probably laugh about for years to come.

I love that this session is a reminder that family photos don’t have to fit into a box. Maybe we’re documenting something your family loves doing together, or spending an afternoon somewhere that holds a special place in your story. It can be as simple as making memories somewhere that already feels like home. 🍂

And then there was the pinball arcade. 🎰🏒🤎

One of my favorite parts of Amanda & Blaine’s anniversary session was getting to see them just have fun together. We wandered around Asbury Park, laughed, played a few games, and let the session feel less like “taking photos” and more like a really good date night.

And of course, we had to stop for a little bubble hockey. Considering Blaine works in the NHL, you can imagine the competition. 😂🏒

I love that their anniversary tradition isn’t just about putting their wedding attire back on every year—it’s about getting away together, exploring somewhere special, and making new memories along the way.

And honestly, I think more couples need an excuse to do exactly this. 🤍

I think this might be one of my favorite extended family sessions to date. 🤍

It wasn’t supposed to happen at 9am.

We were originally planning a beautiful sunset evening, but the weather had other plans. With family visiting from out of state, we decided to try again the following morning.

And somehow, it worked out even better than we could have planned.

We started in a field of wildflowers, capturing some individual family photos while everyone arrived. Once the whole crew was together, the kids were barefoot in the grass, climbing trees, running around, and finding every possible way to turn our morning into an adventure.

And the grandparents? They got to simply enjoy it.

They played with their grandkids. They laughed with them. They watched them run, climb, and be little. There was no rushing through the morning — just time together.

Then we wandered into the trees, where the morning sun was filtering through the branches. We gathered everyone together for the big family photos, but made plenty of time for the kids to play and just be themselves.

And then came the butterfly house. 🦋 The little ones were completely captivated, and it ended up being the sweetest way to finish our morning together.

This is just a small peek at their gallery — the big family, grandparents and grandkids, and all the little in-between moments.

And this is what I hope an extended family session gives you.

Of course, we’ll take the photo with everyone together. The one that will hang on the wall and remind you of this season of your family.

But I also want you to have the photographs of Grandpa laughing as the kids climb all over him. Grandma holding those little hands. The cousins running barefoot through the grass. The giggles, the hugs, the chaos, the quiet moments in between.

Because one day, those little feet won’t be so little.

The kids will be too big to climb into Grandma and Grandpa’s arms.

And you’ll be so grateful you have photographs that don’t just show you what your family looked like that day, but bring you right back to what it felt like to have everyone together. 🤍

Some families leave a lasting place in your heart, and this is one of them. 🤍

The last time I photographed this sweet family, their middle girl was celebrating her first birthday. I had just welcomed my own youngest, and I remember watching the bond between their two little girls. It was one of those moments that quietly stayed with me, reminding me so much of the relationship I hoped my own daughters would share one day.

They've always been one of the kindest, most genuine families, so getting to see them again—now with three beautiful little girls—felt so special.

This time, we spent the evening wandering through the gardens searching for fairies before ending with the happiest little cake smash to celebrate their youngest turning one. There were giggles, messy fingers, frosting-covered smiles, and so many moments that perfectly captured this season of their lives.

I'm delivering their gallery today, and it's filled with so many beautiful memories that there's no way I can fit them all into one post. So this is just the beginning.

There's a little secret to getting those genuine smiles during family photos... it isn't bribing your kids. 🤍

One of the biggest worries I hear from parents before a session is, "What if my kids don't behave?" The truth is, I don't expect them to. I expect them to be kids.

The magic happens when you meet them where they are. Get down on their level. Chase them through the grass. Swing them high in the air. Tell silly jokes. Snuggle them close when they're feeling shy, tired, or a little overwhelmed. Those quiet moments of comfort are just as beautiful as the laughter.

Your session isn't about perfect poses or picture-perfect behavior. It's about capturing the love you share every single day—the way they reach for your hand, bury their face in your shoulder, and light up when you're simply present with them.

It's not just about the baby bump. It's about the waiting, the dreaming, and imagining the little person you're about to meet.

From the moment I met this sweet girl during her mama's maternity session, she was absolutely overjoyed about becoming a big sister. 🤍

She couldn't wait to meet her baby brother, and when I saw them again for his newborn session, that excitement hadn't faded one bit. She wanted to hug him, hold him, and be right by his side every chance she got.

It's one of my favorite things to witness.

One thing I always tell families is that there's no "right" way for an older sibling to welcome a new baby. Some children are full of hugs and kisses, while others take a little more time to warm up—and both are completely okay.

My job isn't to force perfect moments. It's to meet your children where they are, make the experience fun, and preserve this season exactly as it feels. Because whether your little one is showering their new sibling with love or simply curious from a distance, those moments are part of your family's story too.

That's the beauty of documenting a growing family. 🤍

Some stories come full circle. 🤍

A few years ago, I photographed these two in their very first home as they waited for their baby boy to arrive. Not long after, I was back in that same home documenting those tiny newborn days and the beginning of their life as a family of three.

Since then, they’ve moved out of state, but they’ve kept the sweetest tradition alive. Every year since they were married, they put on their wedding attire again, sneak away for a little trip, and take photos together—just the two of them.

This year, they came back to Asbury Park, the place where so much of their love story began. Before the baby, before the moves, before the beautiful chaos of parenthood… this is where they spent so much of their time dating, making memories, and dreaming about the life they’re living now.

Getting to document the different seasons of a family’s story is something I never take for granted. From the excitement of waiting for their baby boy, to those sweet newborn days, and now celebrating the love that started it all.

And this is only a little glimpse into their session… there is so much more to share from this beautiful day. 🤍
