It’s been a fun couple of days at the Minnesota GIS/LIS Conference. I also had the opportunity to capture some awesome LiDAR scans of a few well-known spots around town.

Foreign visitor:

After the fog lifted yesterday morning, the Spliethoff-chartered MV Coe Luisa was alongside Port Terminal, preparing to continue unloading more than 150 tons of project cargo and containers.

Dirk in the mud:

Not actually, but certainly churning it up. Tug and barge Dirk S. VanEnkevort / Michigan Trader easing up to the Graymont terminal as it readied to unload stone.

Here comes the boom:

It’s a wet one in Duluth this morning, so here’s the largest ship on the Great Lakes soaking up some sunshine while loading iron ore at CN yesterday morning.

Mount Graymont:

The stone continues to pile up at Graymont Terminal in Superior, and tug and barge Dirk S. VanEnkevort / Michigan Trader delivered another load. In the distance, three vessels sit in frame: the SS Meteor, now a museum, sits closest. Next, the MV American Century is alongside for a short maintenance stop and then furthest away is the MV James R. Barker is loading iron ore at BNSF.

Late Autumn colors:

The hillside is still holding onto its fall colors despite several days of steady winds. Arriving under the cover of darkness this morning, the MV Paul R. Tregurtha is back in town for another load of iron ore at CN.

Sunny Sunday:

Just before an incoming deck of clouds overtook the sun, tug and barge Dirk S. VanEnkevort / Michigan Trader entered Superior before heading to Graymont Terminal to unload stone. Seawall reconstruction appears to be progressing nicely, with work continuing farther down the slip.
