I have been fascinated with photography since high school when my father accepted a camera as payment for an outstanding bill. Since then, I went onto technical college where I learned photography was my calling. After my two-year degree there I studied at Winona (MN) Sate University. For the next 15 years I worked as a photojournalist for newspapers in Minnesota and Michigan. During those years I
learned to shoot under pressure in every imaginable situation including the Super Bowl and two World Series. During those 15 years I received dozens of awards including best photographers portfolio among Minnesota news
Photographers and best in show from Michigan Associated Press. For 20 years I was the the full-time photographer at the University of Minnesota Duluth. At UMD, my duties included creating images for university publications and web site as well as portrait, team and action pictures for all 14 athletic teams. My photos appeared on the main UMD web site, programs, posters, billboards and a variety of other publications. While at UMD I was ucky enough to photograph four times at The White House as well as numerous NCAA division one and two tournaments. My photos have been published worldwide including the New York Times, Sports Illustrated, USA Today, Women’s World and YM magazines. Brett Groehler
