I hear you. You’re nervous about the messy house. The dogs barking. The dishes in the sink. The unfinished nursery that isn’t finished yet (btw no one’s is). The dogs. What to wear? The house isn’t photo perfect. We don’t have the space. Who will watch the other kiddos? Did I mention the dogs?

This entire session was shot in a basement. They had (2) barking dogs. Do you see the water slide in the left corner? Yeah. That’s what I’m talking about when I say I will meet you where you are. I can make magic in absolutely any environment, that is what an artist does. Beauty is not subjective when beauty can be found in any subject. These are your real, raw lives.. I’m just here to capture what I see in my eyes. 🫶

Recently, a potential client felt the need to preface our conversation by telling me that their family was built upon a same-sex marriage, and asked if I was comfortable serving them..

And honestly? That question has stayed with me.

Not because I was offended that they asked, but because it made me realize that maybe I haven’t done enough to make it obvious that they never needed to ask in the first place.

So let me say it clearly:
You are welcome here. Your family is welcome here.

I don’t care what your family looks like.

Two moms. Two dads. Mom and dad. Blended families. Adoptive families. IVF babies. Surrogacy. Step-parents. Grandparents raising babies. Families that came together in ways you never imagined they would.

I don’t care who you love, what you look like, where you come from, or what your story looks like.

I’m here to photograph your family exactly as it is.

The way you look at your baby.
The tiny hands wrapped around your finger.
The way your partner looks at you when you’re holding the newest little piece of your family.
The chaos. The tenderness. The connection.

That’s what I see.

And I want every person who finds my page to feel safe enough to reach out without wondering whether their family will be accepted here.. because I don’t photograph a certain “type” of family.

I photograph love.

I don’t like capturing smiles as much as I love capturing love. Love isn’t always smiles. Love is tears, love is the simple touch of a hand. Love is the way we look at our favorite people when they don’t even know it. Love is BEING TOGETHER… and I would never in a million years trade these photos for a smile in my direction. Never ever.

One last Studio Newborn to round out my week, and also your daily necessary reminder to not let that negative voice within yourself stop you from creating art.

I truly don’t understand why but posting on social media is the most daunting part of my job. I hate it. Not necessarily stories but the whole curated feed and posting times and algorithms and repurposing content and getting distracted on my phone 100 times trying to post before I just give up and and and and and and and… Typical talented photographer with s**t social media skills. 😂🥲😭

There are always some clients that come and go, that is just the business that I am in. I won’t be everyone’s cup of tea forever, and that is okay. 🥹 But boy, does it make me so freaking grateful for these relationships that stick around. The clients that invite me to birthday parties, reply to my check in messages and send quick updates with photos of their babies. The ones that give me a hug at the end of our time together, knowing we will see each other again soon.. Genuine friendships. That is my why. ✨
