Now based in Dallas, TX with quarterly residency sessions in Minneapolis. I am your go-to Twin Cities Natural Light Photographer. I am for those who effortlessly blend a laid-back vibe with a touch of organization, possess a creative spirit, and hold a deep appreciation for art and hint of luxury. I'm not just a photographer, but a storyteller with a passion for capturing the essence of individual

s and families in the most authentic way. Your spirit, your story is what drives me to create images that go beyond the surface, revealing layers of personality and the connections that define your journey. Creativity for me, is not just about capturing a moment; it's about crafting visual poetry. I aim to make every session an experience, a journey that's both relaxed and luxurious. Photography is more than a profession for me; it's a calling to freeze the magic in the mundane, to celebrate the beauty that resides in simplicity and complexity alike.

Match-Ready Monday unpopular opinion:

You don't automatically need a group photograph in your dating profile.
There seems to be this idea that everyone needs one to prove they have friends and a social life.

I promise — we believe you. 😂

If you have a genuinely good group photograph where you're immediately identifiable and it communicates something meaningful about your life, fantastic.

But if your match has to study the photo for fifteen seconds trying to figure out which person you are?

That's not helping.

Dating profiles give you very limited visual real estate.

Use it intentionally.

Every image should add something to the story you're telling.

And if you're not sure which photos deserve those limited spots, that's one of the things I evaluate in my Match-Ready Profile Audit.

Should you use travel photos on your dating profile?

Maybe.

Helpful, I know. Very decisive of me.

Travel photos can be great when they show curiosity, lifestyle, energy, openness, or a meaningful part of your life.

But a travel photo is not automatically a strong dating profile photo just because the background is pretty.

If your face is tiny, hidden behind sunglasses, turned away, or 4,000 emotional miles from the camera, the photo may be doing more for the location than for you.

And if your entire profile is travel photos?

That can start to feel less like,
“I have a rich, interesting life,”

and more like,
“I am dating my passport and you may apply for a supporting role.”

The best travel photos still need to communicate you.

Your expression.
Your energy.
Your presence.
Your lifestyle.
Your current self.

One strong travel image can add personality and context.

But your profile also needs warmth, approachability, clarity, and real-life connection.

Travel should support the story.
Not become the whole story.

Save this before uploading five vacation photos in a row.

Do you need a full-body photo on your dating profile?

Usually, yes.

Not because dating apps need to become a body inspection station.

Absolutely not.

A full-body photo is not about inviting judgment.

It is about creating trust.

When every photo is cropped close, angled carefully, hidden behind objects, taken from above, or strategically vague, people start filling in blanks.

And people filling in blanks on dating apps?

Historically not our finest collective work.

A good full-body or body-language photo helps someone understand:

your presence
your posture
your style
your confidence
how you carry yourself
what it might feel like to be around you

It does not need to be stiff.
It does not need to be posed like a catalog model.
It does not need to be your “look at my body” photo.

It can be walking.
Sitting.
Leaning.
Laughing.
Moving through a place that makes sense for your life.

The goal is honest visual context.

Not perfection.
Not performance.
Not hiding.

Because clarity builds trust.
And trust is one of the most attractive things your profile can create.

Want full-body photos that feel flattering, natural, and not awkward? That is exactly where guidance matters.

Your favorite photograph of yourself isn't always the photograph that works hardest for you on a dating profile.

We naturally zoom in on the things we're self-conscious about.

Is that my best angle?
Do I like my smile?
Does my hair look right?

But someone seeing you for the first time is experiencing something much bigger: your expression, warmth, personality, confidence and whether you feel like someone they'd actually enjoy meeting.

I've seen plenty of photographs that a client almost overlooked become exactly the image I want near the top of their profile.

So for this week's Match-Ready Monday, don't only ask:

“Do I look good?”

Also ask:

“How does this photo make someone feel about meeting me?”

And if you're not sure whether the photos you're using are actually helping your profile, that's exactly what I look at inside my Match-Ready Profile Audit.

This is the kind of senior photo you feel before you even realize why.

Payton’s session was never about checking off a list of poses.

She wanted something that felt natural, artistic, outdoorsy, and a little more cinematic — photographs that felt like her, not like a version of who a senior is “supposed” to be.

So we built the evening around that.

Water. Trees. A bridge. Tall grass. Golden light. Space to move, sit, think, laugh, and settle into the camera without performing for it.

And this moment right here is exactly why I love photographing seniors this way.

There’s strength in it. Quietness. A little bit of wonder. And that in-between feeling of standing at the edge of one chapter while the next one is already beginning.

Senior photos can be beautiful without being overly posed. They can feel like art and still feel completely like you.

Happy Senior Sunday, Payton. 🤍

I’m also in the final stretch of her gallery and expect to have the full session wrapped up within the next day or two — and there are so many more from this evening I cannot wait for her family to see.

I don’t think confidence in a photograph always looks the way people expect it to.

It isn’t necessarily the strongest pose, the biggest smile or the most polished expression.

Sometimes confidence just looks like **ease**.

There’s usually a moment during a session when someone stops monitoring themselves quite so closely.

Their shoulders drop.

Their expression changes.

They stop worrying about what their hands are doing.

And that’s often when the photographs start feeling most like them.

You don’t have to walk into a photography session already feeling confident in front of the camera.

Quite frankly, most people don’t.

Helping you get comfortable enough that you stop trying to perform confidence is part of the work.

Your dating profile photos do not always need to happen at a trendy coffee shop, polished restaurant, or city street.

Sometimes one of the strongest locations is your own home.

Not because everyone needs “home photos.”

But because your space can communicate something dating apps often miss:

warmth
ease
personality
real lifestyle
emotional availability
what it might feel like to spend time with you

A home-based dating photo can feel personal in a way that a random pretty location cannot.

It can show how you actually live.

A favorite chair.
A beautiful kitchen.
A sunny window.
A book.
Coffee.
A record player.
A porch.
A dog curled up nearby.
A space that says, “this is part of my real life.”

That matters.

Because dating profile photos should not just show what you look like.

They should help someone imagine what it might feel like to know you.

Of course, not every home is the right fit for photos. Light matters. Space matters. Background matters. The vibe matters.

But when it works?

It can make your profile feel grounded, specific, warm, and much less like you were dropped into a generic content location with good lighting and mild confusion.

Your life is part of the story.
Sometimes your space helps tell it.

Want dating photos in locations that actually feel like your life? That is part of my planning process.

Senior photos don’t have to look like everyone else’s.

Payton is an artist, a hockey player, a little adventurous, and someone who was drawn to images that felt more natural, cinematic, and quietly creative — not overly posed or overly polished.

So we built her session around *that*.

Water. Trees. Movement. Warm evening light. Clothes she actually felt like herself in. Space to settle in instead of constantly asking her to “pose.”

And somewhere along the shoreline at Afton, this happened.

This is always the goal for me: not to turn someone into the version of a senior they think they’re supposed to be…

…but to photograph the person who is already standing in front of me.

A little strong. A little thoughtful. A little unexpected. Completely Payton.

Just one tiny peek from a session I already cannot wait to share more of. 🤍

MATCH-READY MONDAY

How do you write better Hinge prompts?

Start by making them easy to reply to.

Your Hinge prompts, Bumble bio, and dating app answers should give someone a clear opening to start a conversation with you.

A stronger dating profile prompt usually has three things:

1. A specific detail
2. A little personality
3. An easy opening for conversation

For example:

Weak:
“I love to travel.”

Better:
“Weekend road trips, tiny cafés, and finding the best bookstore in a new city.”

Weak:
“I love food.”

Better:
“Always looking for the best patio dinner spot and someone willing to split fries.”

Weak:
“I like going out but also staying in.”

Better:
“Equally happy with live music on Friday and a slow Sunday with coffee, errands, and a good show.”

The stronger versions give someone something to picture and something to respond to.

Your prompts should also support your photos. If your dating profile photos communicate warmth, lifestyle, confidence, and personality, your written answers should reinforce that impression.

The Match-Ready™ Profile Audit reviews your full dating profile — photos, photo order, prompts, bio, profile flow, and overall first impression — so you can see what’s working, what may be weakening your results, and what to adjust first.

When I'm planning a dating-photo session, I'm not just looking for pretty backgrounds.

I'm thinking about the life we're quietly communicating.

Maybe that's coffee on a patio.

Walking through your neighborhood.

Cooking at home.
Getting dressed up somewhere you'd genuinely meet friends.

Spending time outdoors.

The goal isn't to stage some imaginary, Instagram-worthy lifestyle.

It's to create enough visual context that someone looking at your profile can begin to understand what being part of your actual life might feel like.

That's why I think of dating-profile photography as storytelling rather than simply portrait photography.

The setting isn't just where the picture happened.

It's part of what the picture says.

Save this if you're planning to update your dating profile this year.
