Alexandria's Story is one of love & loss
She went through her pregnancy planning the birth of her beautiful son. A little Brother to their daughter. A second child to their loving family.
& She hired me to document this pregnancy & Birth
When I met with her for her maternity photos I could tell she was going to have a powerful story & was going to do amazing when the time came to meet her son & she absolutely did
But the day she said hello was the very same day she said goodbye. Something no Mother should ever have to endure...
She wanted me to share some of her maternity photos without going into too many details in respects to her son's privacy
She wanted other women to know they are not alone, as she is not alone & never will be.
Alexandria birthed her beautiful son after an early unexpected start to labor. I got the text that he was born while I was still on the way... but He wasn't breathing
It's a text I hoped to never receive in my line of work. Followed by another text even worse
They pronounced this beautiful boy passed away.
Alexandria asked if I was still comfortable with coming in to document him & Without hesitation I said absolutely.
& I still tear up as I type this out... he was perfect. So beautiful.
I took so many photos knowing these would be some of the only photos they ever had of their son...
I cried with her. I cried for her. I cried for him... I cried my whole drive home.
His life matters. His memory matters. His story matters.
The love his family holds for him will never fade & will never waver.
Alexandria walks with him inside of her heart every day. This isn't how she hoped & prayed her story would unfold. Sometimes in this life we don't understand & we don't get answers to why...
But one thing is certain, this beautiful boy made a huge impact on so many even if he never knew it
The strongest thing on this earth is a Mother. A Mother who has to do the unimaginable and continue her life without a piece of her own heart. That piece will remain with him forever.
Alexandria isn't alone. She's held & loved by every Mother around the world.
We hold space in so many different ways in birth, & motherhood
He was beautiful
He was here
& his life had meaning
& his Mother holds him close always inside her soul
Connected for life
Birth isn't always filled with joy. It isn't always fair.
Sometimes no matter what we do it can't be changed. But it will & always does change us.
Grief came because love came first 🩵
Please Join me in sending a prayer to this amazing woman as she continues to walk through this process 🙏
