Sammie’s Birth Story 🩷

The birth of Evee Dawn our miracle baby.
The journey to Evee was a long and extremely hard one.
In 2022 we had our first baby and it was a extremely hard pregnancy. I vomited for 39 weeks with Hyperemesis Gravidarum. Labor and postpartum was even harder. I experienced a 3rd degree tear and broken tailbone that caused me problems for over 6 months. I was absolutely terrified to get pregnant again but could have never expected what was to come.

We got pregnant again in 2024 and were so excited despited my constant vomiting and sickness. The day after Mother’s Day we received the most horrible news we had ever received. Our sweet baby River had passed at 12weeks and I had to have an Emergency D&C for a suspected molar pregnancy. I suffered from extreme depression afterwards and felt so alone. I had to wait 6 months to try again and get bloodwork every 48 hours to make sure my HCG levels did not turn cancerous. We were told repeatedly that it was “bad luck” and miscarriages happen but not to worry. We felt ignored and nobody was willing to even look into what happened.

Several months later we had yet another loss at 9 weeks and were still ignored. We switched Drs. after that and finally found someone who was willing to listen to us. Again, we fell pregnant just to suffer another loss. I had never felt so low and lost in my life. I felt like we would never have another baby and I was not only terrified to get pregnant again but I wanted to give up.
My pregnancy with Evee was the most stressful experience of my life. I was constantly scared something was going to happen to her. I tried not to get “attached” and hardened my heart to protect my feelings. My pregnancy truly didn’t feel real till about 30+ weeks.

I was in prodromal labor for about 2 weeks. I was so eager to meet her because I was so stressed waiting for her to arrive. I was induced eventually at 37 weeks for Gestational Hypertension. I went in at 4cms dilated and was in labor 11 hours start to finish. The entire time I was worried something was going to happen to her. I cant begin to describe the feeling of being in L&D again after leaving without my baby last time. It was an extremely emotional experience being there. My epidural failed from the hips up and caused me a ton of back pain. I went from 4cms to 10 in less than an hour. When it was time to push I just felt so determined to meet the baby I prayed so hard for. I felt like I couldn’t wait to hear her cry and feel peace for the first time after 2 years of loss. 45 minutes of pushing and she came out. I asked to pull her out myself and it was the most relieving experience of my life physically holding her.

My labor experience was honestly very redeeming compared to my last. Labor was much much more painful but pushing was a lot shorter and my recovery was way easier. 3 weeks early my “little girl” came out 9lbs 5oz and 19.5 inches long.

Alexandria's Story is one of love & loss

She went through her pregnancy planning the birth of her beautiful son. A little Brother to their daughter. A second child to their loving family.

& She hired me to document this pregnancy & Birth

When I met with her for her maternity photos I could tell she was going to have a powerful story & was going to do amazing when the time came to meet her son & she absolutely did

But the day she said hello was the very same day she said goodbye. Something no Mother should ever have to endure...

She wanted me to share some of her maternity photos without going into too many details in respects to her son's privacy

She wanted other women to know they are not alone, as she is not alone & never will be.

Alexandria birthed her beautiful son after an early unexpected start to labor. I got the text that he was born while I was still on the way... but He wasn't breathing

It's a text I hoped to never receive in my line of work. Followed by another text even worse

They pronounced this beautiful boy passed away.

Alexandria asked if I was still comfortable with coming in to document him & Without hesitation I said absolutely.

& I still tear up as I type this out... he was perfect. So beautiful.

I took so many photos knowing these would be some of the only photos they ever had of their son...

I cried with her. I cried for her. I cried for him... I cried my whole drive home.

His life matters. His memory matters. His story matters.
The love his family holds for him will never fade & will never waver.

Alexandria walks with him inside of her heart every day. This isn't how she hoped & prayed her story would unfold. Sometimes in this life we don't understand & we don't get answers to why...

But one thing is certain, this beautiful boy made a huge impact on so many even if he never knew it

The strongest thing on this earth is a Mother. A Mother who has to do the unimaginable and continue her life without a piece of her own heart. That piece will remain with him forever.

Alexandria isn't alone. She's held & loved by every Mother around the world.

We hold space in so many different ways in birth, & motherhood

He was beautiful
He was here
& his life had meaning
& his Mother holds him close always inside her soul
Connected for life

Birth isn't always filled with joy. It isn't always fair.
Sometimes no matter what we do it can't be changed. But it will & always does change us.

Grief came because love came first 🩵

Please Join me in sending a prayer to this amazing woman as she continues to walk through this process 🙏
