I had so much fun wandering around ARToberfest with my camera this weekend. There was so much to do I didn't even make it around to all of it!🤍

One of my favorite things about having my studio here at the is being surrounded by such a wonderful creative community. From the beautiful flowers tucked behind the Arts Warehouse to the incredible mural out front, there is so much to love about this little corner of Canton!📍

I’m so grateful to be part of it — and I’m already thinking about the possibility of offering a few mini sessions during ARToberfest next year! 🌿📷

🧡I was so honored to be asked to photograph Saturday’s 5K in support of Agent Orange awareness. What started as an opportunity to document an event quickly became a meaningful experience for me. I met some amazing people, had wonderful conversations and witnessed strength, remembrance, community, and a whole lot of people coming together for something that truly matters.

These are a few of my favorite moments from the morning. 🤍

S’more of what matters 🤎

Today I’m celebrating another year around the sun, and another year of Rooted Vision.

I’ve always been the sentimental one. The person who remembers where we went, who was there, what we did, and usually has a story about it that nobody asked for. I keep the little things, save the photographs, and probably hold onto far too many things simply because they remind me of someone or somewhere.

But I think I understand why I am that way a little better now.

These three photographs are all from Camp Dearborn. The first slide is my mom with her family in the 1950s. The second slide is my big kids. Last but not least is Josie this year.

Different generations. The same place.

This year, Josie and I made our tie-dye shirts, swam in the lake, played mini golf, made a bonfire and took a paddle boat out—just like I had done with my own mom, and with her big siblings a few years ago. The boats have apparently gotten a little more exciting since my childhood because this time we had the choice between a yellow duck and a purple dragon. Josie chose the purple dragon, obviously.💜

Someday, if I’m lucky, I hope they look at the photographs we take and remember more than what we were wearing or what the weather was like. I hope they remember the stories I've told them and maybe that this was a place her mother loved as a child, too.

Maybe that's what birthdays make me think about most. Not simply getting older, but getting to see the thread between where I've been and where I'm going.

This year has brought a lot of change, including opening my studio in Canton’s Cherry Hill Village, and I’m excited about all the possibilities that come with having a place to create, learn, gather and dream a little bigger.

I don't know exactly what the next year will bring, but I know I want s’more!🥰

More time with my kids. More stories. More photographs. More adventures. More opportunities to create and connect with people who inspire me.
