I’ll miss hearing your voice over the phone, and the way you called me Zuzu.
I’ll miss the way you mixed up words and how your laugh was like a bark when you were surprised.
I’ll miss sneaking ice cream pops with you before dinner and pretending like you didn’t fall asleep while we watched “golden oldies.”
I’ll miss hearing your stories, eating your crumb cake, and learning to make pizza and biscotti by hand.
I’ll miss dancing with you, drinking Chianti with you, and seeing your eyes light up when you talked about Nannie.
I miss you already, Pop. I miss you so much.
But I also rejoice for you, because your body and your memory and your heart are whole once more.
Because you have passed from death to eternal life.
Because you are home.
“Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?” John 11:25-26
