👀 The best side eye by .li12
This was my first time playing with makeup on someone else after a 1.5 year hiatus to focus on my health during the pandemic, and my first time experimenting in creating a “high end beauty” shot.
I’m obsessed with how it came out!
In the past 3 years, I periodically faced immense mental health challenges which affected my short memory and ability to concentrate. I struggled to perform even the most simple logical tasks, like adding numbers or reading emails. My mind would just become blank and I would burst into tears out of frustration for hours at a time. I completely lost trust in my own capabilities.
During the pandemic, my art professor used to hold workshops where we used to draw shapes and lines to create structure in an experimental manner, rather than trying to draw with a plan. One hour every week, I found my peace and confidence during the these workshops.
The best part was letting go of the fear of imperfection and finding a sense of freedom through creating something new.
I didn’t have any plan when I started this look either. I just wanted to welcome creativity into my life again. I grabbed my most colorful palette started off blending some pinks and pastels. I experimented with a variety of make application techniques I’ve never tried before - letting go the usual rules for “glam” and “beauty”. Looking for more structure, I added glitter and gloss to create differences in texture.
I’m super proud of the final result, and I can’t wait to do more experiments like these!
