If you saw my stories a few weeks ago, you might have seen that I attempted to take my own maternity photos (with the help of my husband) and it was a bit of a disaster. We got to the top of this beautiful hillside with lupines in peak bloom, and as soon as I was ready to set the timer on the camera, a huge gust of 50 mph wind hit us. It took our breath away, totally ruined our hair and completely freaked out my daughter who started screaming. In between gusts we attempted a couple family shots and then the kids took shelter in the car while my husband took a few more of me. We also got a few more shots of me with the kids down in the valley where the wind was a little milder, but by that point my daughter was pretty done. In the end, I’m glad we made the effort to capture theses, but my lesson learned, hire the photographer 😂, check the weather and make sure your toddler gets a nap the day of photos. Oh and if things don’t go according to plan, roll with it and be ready to pivot (like we did moving off the hillside) and you’ll still probably get some pretty sweet photos.
