One of the questions I get most often: "When should I book my newborn session?"
The honest answer? Earlier than you think.

Here's why → newborn photography happens in a tiny window. The classic curled-up, sleepy, fresh-from-the-womb images we all love? Those are made between days 5 and 14 of your baby's life.

That's a two-week window.

Add to that: my calendar fills 3-4 months in advance, especially during peak Bay Area baby season (spring + summer due dates).

So when's the right time to book? In your second trimester — ideally between 20 and 24 weeks. We hold a tentative date around your due date, and lock in the exact session day after baby arrives.

If you're already further along, reach out anyway. I keep a small number of last-minute slots for the families I can fit in 🤍

A note on timing: May and June are the best months of the year for outdoor maternity in the Bay Area. Light is golden but not harsh, the fog hasn't fully rolled in yet, and the landscape is at its greenest. If you're due July through September, this is your window to book.

A note on wardrobe: Bay Area light leans cool. To balance it, lean warm — camel, cream, dusty rose, sage, soft black. Skip pure white (reads gray) and bright jewel tones (compete with the landscape).
