Posed newborn photography isn’t dead. And I’m still gonna say it. I feel like posed newborn photography has gotten a bad rep lately lol but I still love it and I’m not getting rid of it.

As a mom, I totally understand why some mamas want the cozy, natural, snuggled up lifestyle photos and why others want their tiny baby perfectly posed with all those little details captured. Some of us want both.

Neither is better. It’s literally just what you want to remember from this season. And motherhood comes with enough opinions already, we do not need to be judging each other over newborn pictures too lol.

That’s why I’ll always offer both. You pick what feels like you and your family.

The best time to be photographed is when you are between 28-34 weeks pregnant!

Photography isn’t a necessity. We all know that.

But non-essential and luxury are not the same thing.
Luxury isn’t simply defined by being a want instead of a need. If that were the case, every photographer would automatically be considered luxury.

A luxury photographer is a brand, not just a service.
It’s the experience, the expertise, the consistency, the client journey, the attention to detail, the exclusivity, and the reputation they’ve built.
I also think the term “luxury” started getting thrown around more when photographers faced client sticker shock.

A photographer would send pricing, a potential client would say it was expensive, and the response became, “Well, photography is a luxury service.”
But the reality is those clients just weren’t your target client. They simply found someone within their budget, and that’s okay.

I’ve also seen comments saying everyone wants to be a luxury photographer now.
Honestly, what’s wrong with that?

I’ve never called myself a luxury photographer or a luxury brand, but I also don’t think we should shame photographers who do consider themselves luxury or who are actively working toward becoming a luxury brand.

At the end of the day, it’s kind of like purses.
A purse from Target and a purse from Louis Vuitton both do the same thing. They both hold your wallet, keys, and lipstick.
But nobody would argue they’re positioned the same in the marketplace.

The difference isn’t what they do.
The difference is the brand, the experience, the perception, the craftsmanship, and the value people place on it.

Photography is no different.

Not every photographer is luxury simply because photography isn’t a necessity.
