We were first contacted on July 22nd and flew for her that evening without success. We came out again on the 29th and were able to track her for a while before losing her again. So happy that Denise Gergits with help from Jill Kaider Boland and Rita Foster-Barnett were able to bring this girl home. Great job!

We are working on this one. If you are in the Streamwood area, please check your properties especially bushes, tree groupings, tall grass, and brush areas. This dog probably still has a leash on and we are concerned that the leash is caught on something. As usual, please call the numbers directly if you see the dog. Do not call out or chase the dog.

SAFE!!! Atlas who suffers from epileptic seizures went a couple of days with no sightings in this heat and then last night someone called with a sighting a couple of blocks away. Atlas's mom rushed over but was unable to secure him and he was lost again. This morning she was out driving when she saw Atlas. She used the advice from Rosanne about how to lure a dog when they are in fight or flight mode and Atlas was safely recovered! It is so hard to convince the parents of lost dogs that their dog will not recognize their voice or what they look like when they are in this state of mind. It is so important to learn luring techniques in order to get a lost dog back safely. So happy for this family! Thanks to all the volunteers who assisted and to Michael Davis of Best Furry Friends - Search and Rescue who flew for Atlas. We flew on two separate days with no luck. Atlas knew how to hunker down!

SAFE!!! Details to follow! Atlas's mom received a sighting last night and saw Atlas but was not able to secure him. This morning, she went out to look again and saw him. She laid down and was able to lure him to safety. Talking to the vet now!

STORY from Rosanne: Deb and Rosanne jumped in to help a family that had traveled from St. Louis to Illinois for a concert weekend. Angel, Paris, and niece Keli were staying at a suburban hotel when the cleaning crew did not secure the door properly. Their pup, Jasper, got out (seen pacing on camera) and ran off while they were downtown. Not being from around there, you can imagine how scared Jasper was—and the family didn’t know the area or the people.
What a quick whirlwind recovery with Deb, Smithicair and a very dedicated family 🐾
What we all did:
1. Phone calls and followup with PDs and AC
2. Posting on Nextdoor
3. Flyers
4. Door knocking
One confirmed sighting Saturday morning (citizen and PD tried to catch Jasper) and he ran into a very dense marsh area. We had a few other sightings that indicated he could be in the neighborhoods to the south. To be thorough, that and the more dense areas were flown. With guidance, the family stayed out and also got a feeding station down with scent items (so important).
We spent Sunday doing all the things and asked Smithicair to come fly for us. A lot of area was covered for a few hours (coyotes seen and other wildlife and heat sources). Finally, an extra pass was made near the marsh area and Mike was able to see Jasper this time! Just a small tan area amongst high weeds. We all jumped into action 💥
Plan: One of the best lure options is scent and a favorite human.
We gave instruction, tips, food, slip lead to brave daughter, Paris, who felt she could do this! She tried entering a few times, but the thickness scared her off. The other family, Deb and I were standing by at different angles. We gave Paris a pep talk and she went back in for her dog slow and steady.
Smithicair flew overwatch and we were on a 3 way call with Angel as we stood by to verbally guide Paris in the right direction 🤩
