A wedding weekend with Walt and Alan.
I love a nontraditional wedding plan because it means the couple is making decisions based on who they are and what they enjoy instead of what a wedding is "supposed to be".
For these two, that meant gathering 40 loved ones to enjoy their favorite Asheville spots over a summer weekend. We talked beforehand about what they wanted from the photos - very little posing. More focus on the unexpected in-betweens, the atmosphere and their guests having fun.
Saturday started early at Zelda Dearest for portraits. Then we headed to Tall John's for a sweet ceremony officiated by Alan's dad followed by a lingering brunch. They exchanged vows right there in the beautiful neighborhood restaurant surrounded by family and friends.
I joined the group again on Sunday for dinner at La Bodega. I love being invited to two parts of a wedding weekend. By the second gathering, I’m not quite a stranger with a big camera anymore.
