I have felt incapable, voiceless, and powerless. The partial release of the files that only confirmed our worst fears. Now the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled that "privately possessing AI-generated CSAM depicting “fictional” children can be constitutionally protected when it stays within the home." I pulled the case and read it in part. I have always had a complicated opinion of posting kids photos social media, including my own.
I'm not longer going to be wishy washy on the subject. From a photography standpoint point, I want to share the beautiful families I have the privilege to photograph. From a moral and mom stand point, I always want to do what's best for their safety. So going forward my photos will look a little off. I'm going to cover kiddos faces if they are facing the camera. I will honor requests not to post any at all. I am also working on taking prior photos down.
I have made my personal account private and may even start archiving photos on there as well. Social media truly does not have my trust.
As small as this may be, this is the power I have. Photography is the voice I have. May God put a hedge of protection around our babies.
