EWI of Albuquerque’s 𝙍𝙀𝘼𝘿𝙄𝙉𝙂 𝙍𝘼𝙇𝙇𝙔 was a huge success! On February 4th, twelve dedicated volunteers came together to assemble supply bags, setting the stage for an unforgettable event at Hodgin Elementary School.
We had a fantastic turnout, with just as many volunteers at the rally itself-plus eight 𝙐𝙉𝙈 𝙈𝙀𝙉'𝙎 𝘽𝘼𝙎𝙀𝘽𝘼𝙇𝙇 𝙋𝙇𝘼𝙔𝙀𝙍𝙎 who stepped up as enthusiastic guest readers! The Reading Rally brought smiles to the faces of aproximately 65 second graders across three classrooms. The UNM players brought stories to life with their interactive and engaging readings, making it an experience the students won’t forget!
Each child received a special bag packed with essential school supplies, including scissors, notebooks, pencils, crayons, colored pencils, markers, rulers, erasers, and sharpeners. But the real excitement? Each student got to pick out a brand-new hardcover book to take home!
Adding to the magic, Caryn Welz wowed the students with a fascinating presentation on remote-control hot air balloons. They didn’t just hear about it—they got to touch the balloon canopy and even create fire! This hands-on experience opened their eyes to the science and wonder of balloons in a whole new way.A big thank you to all our volunteers and supporters who made this event possible.
Together, we ignited a love of reading and learning in these young minds!
