If you do not know, I am a father to 5 lovely kids. And yes, all from the same wife.
The early years went by so fast. I had many great memories of the kids when they were little but I was often also not around.
In the early years of Lightedpixels, I was consumed by my photography and work. I often travelled for shoots too. There is no regret though. It was a well lived period. However, 8 sincerely do wish I had more time with the kids.
Ever since Covid, I have shot more families than before. A number of the couples I have shot their wedding for, now have families of their own. And I am now shooting their families.
My family photography is not unlike the wedding photography I do at Lightedpixels. The images I produce, I hope to preserve the "human truth" of a moment. To tell it with honesty that they become timeless artifacts for future generations and hopefully the love for the family is conveyed through the images. It was and still is about fighting the "staged perfection" of the world to celebrate the real, messy, beautiful life that we live.
It is about not wiping away that sweat off mom's forehead during the shoot when we don't realize it. It is about celebrating the awkward smiles from the kids and the "unglamorous" laughter from dad or mom. These are all unique to every family. These are the unscripted chemistry that matters, not just a template picture perfect posed shot.
I am still working on my craft too. Not just the photography techniques but more importantly, understanding people better.
