My 7th edition of Łemkowyna Ultra Trail!

As every year goes by, the challenge of creating something new, exciting, and different becomes harder. But that’s exactly what I love about being a photographer.

You have the opportunity to show your own perspective, to capture not only what you see, but also the emotions you feel while being there.

Watching incredible runners breaking records, determined minds pushing themselves to fulfill the dream of finishing their first ultra, broken souls after two nights of sleep deprivation, and tears of joy from becoming someone they never thought they could be.

There are so many stories unfolding at the same time, and every single one deserves to be told.

Congratulations to all of you! I’m happy to have documented a little piece of your individual stories and to have shared a few moments along the way.

See you next year, Łemkowyna Trail!

A couple of weeks ago I went to photograph my first professional football match, Wisła Kraków vs Jagiellonia Białystok , not really knowing what to expect… and I’m definitely not disappointed!

It was a completely different experience from what I’m used to. Football feels much more unpredictable, with fast, random changes of direction that make the action pretty hard to follow, especially when you’re zoomed all the way in and suddenly the play goes the opposite way 😅

Definitely a different challenge, and definitely one I want to try again.

Maybe a winter match next? 👀⚽️📸

Łemkowyna through the years. 🍂⛰️

A small collection of photos from all my years at Łemkowyna Trail .

I’ve been a photographer here for six editions: 2018, 2019, 2021, 2023, 2024 and 2025, and I’ve also experienced the other side of the race, running it in 2016 and 2022.

That makes almost a decade of my life connected to this race.

And I just love it.

Not only because of the beauty of the race and Beskid Niski in autumn, but because Łemkowyna became part of my new life in Poland after I moved here in 2015. Through this race I’ve met fantastic people, photographed my first ultra, ran my first ultra and eventually my longest one too. It also became an important part of how I kicked off my career as a photographer.

At this point, I don’t think my year feels complete without an autumn in Beskid Niski. 🍁

And if you’ve ever thought about running Łemkowyna, this is your sign to do it. Come and experience this place, this race and its magic for yourself.

This year I was supposed to be on the other side of the camera again, running my first 100K. I eventually decided I wasn’t ready for it yet, but I’ll definitely be there covering the race.

Dark Track for PURELY ATHLETICS

As always, I came to the race with one little note to myself: “just go nuts.”

And Dark Track definitely gave me the right playground for it.

The pace was insane. Everyone was pushing their limits, fighting for every second and, as you probably saw, photographers were doing our own little race trying to keep up with it all.

Running, flashing, dragging shutters, getting way too close, experimenting and trying not to overthink anything.

I enjoyed every single second of it.

Warsaw Gravel Series | Third round, your small “Tour de Mazovia”

It might be a short-track race, but that doesn’t make it easier. Fast pace for the riders means fast pace for the photographer too.

There aren’t many opportunities to move around while chasing the race, so planning becomes key. Knowing how long it takes to get from one pre-planned spot to another, calculating how much time you can spend shooting each block, and constantly deciding when it’s time to move, that’s basically what my brain is doing for the entire race.

And this edition added another variable: wind and constantly changing light. One second harsh sun, the next a deep cloudy sky. Flash became my best friend throughout the day, helping me keep some consistency while everything around me kept changing.

But in the end, those conditions gave this edition its own look, punchy, raw, a little unpredictable and I absolutely love the result.

That’s probably one of the things I enjoy most about photographing races: you never really get to do the same thing twice.

Not sports. Not outdoors. And definitely not something I had planned to photograph.

Sunday was supposed to be just a family trip on an old steam train.

But traveling with us was Leliwa, a jazz band and a group of pretty interesting people, friendly, talkative, and full of character.

So somewhere along the way, I sat down with them for a few minutes, we talked, and of course… I couldn’t resist taking a couple of portraits. 📷

I dared to bring the original Canon EOS-1 (Canon’s first professional EOS film camera) to the Diamond League. 🎞️

Loaded with CineStill Film 800T — and I’m pretty happy I did.

My lens selection was definitely limited. Bad timing: I upgraded most of my kit to RF, so I don’t have an EF telephoto anymore. But maybe that limitation is part of what I like about these photos.

They’re not perfect. And that’s exactly the point.

The grain, the missed focus, the exposure, the colors… film has a nature of its own. There’s no checking the back of the camera, no knowing if you got the shot, and no second chance once the moment is gone.

(I need to master scanning as I believe they are not as sharp as I know they are 😅)

It also made me appreciate even more the photographers who inspired me before the digital era. The people documenting Olympics, World Cups and everything in between on film, producing images that became part of our visual memory without the technology we take for granted today.

And somewhere in Mexico, I still have about 30 kg of old National Geographic magazines waiting for me to figure out how to bring them to Poland. 😅 Those pages probably have a lot to do with why I love photography in the first place.

I think the EOS-1 might start coming with me more often.

Every event has its main story.

Maybe it also deserves an analog side. 🎞️

One lens. Three ranges. 30 frames.

I shot around 80% of the event with the Canon RF 100–300mm F2.8 L, moving around the stadium and putting the full range to work.

From wider environmental frames around 100mm, through 200mm, all the way to the compression and reach of 300mm, these are my top 10 shots from each range.

Having this much versatility at f/2.8 made it very hard to take the lens off the camera.
