Went away a few weekends ago to escape the Wānaka inversion. The days were sunny and the evening was clear and crisp, waking up to everything covered in frost. As much as I love summer camping, Autumn and winter bring these gorgeous still days in amongst the unsettled weather, and you really can’t beat it - as long as I’ve you’ve got good company, some warm clothes and a fire going to stay toasty.

Time always goes by far too quickly when you’re having fun, and this road trip last month went by in the blink of an eye, but I’m so grateful to have all these memories to look back on. These are some of the road side stops from our week away - the coffee spots, skate sessions, four-legged friends and mountain views.

Some of my favourite moments and photos are from the in between. The hidden gems you find, exploring old buildings with stories to tell, and the pullover on the side of the road that you’d not usually stop at; but do once when the light hits right and it’s the most beautiful thing you’ve ever seen. And as the old saying goes, “it’s not the destination, it’s the journey”.

Big fan of the journey.

On another note, I’ve had my Greenslade duffle for a few years now (featured in the last four photos). It’s been with me on every road trip and has seen a lot of mud, dust, snow and sun over the years, and every scratch in the leather has a story to tell. It’s crazy how an item like this plays a small but important role in my life and will be with me for many more years to come. I’m so thankful to be working with a brand that makes the most incredible products that will last a lifetime, and I’m fortunate enough to have my own piece of Duffle with me wherever I go.

Golden evenings at The Bearded Poet. We waited until low tide one evening, once the sun had dipped, to go forage for mussels off the rocks outside the hut. Nothing tastes better than fresh food like this, especially when it’s caught by your own hands (though Andrew did all the hard work 😂 I took photos). We cooked them up with garlic, butter, cream, white wine and a side of crispy potato’s and oh my, this was probably the best meal we’ve had in a long time. Still dreaming about this meal.

It’s hard to sum up our time at in one post, so I shall split it into two parts. We had four amazing days in this magic hut by the sea. Listening to the ocean and watching the ships float by the windows.

I first came here three years ago and have been longing to go back. I’m so thankful I could show Andrew this place and so so thankful to Wendy and Alex for having us stay in their special corner of the world.

These photos are from our slow mornings - an early bath and watching the sun come up, making breakfast and coffee, the small details of this place that make it so special and a hike around the cliffs to the little school house on the beach. This place is so incredible, and no amount of time is ever long enough here (we’d move here permanently in a heartbeat if we could 😂).

A well overdue trip where all the stars aligned.

This was one of those evenings where we couldn’t believe what our eyes were seeing. It was so damn beautiful. Everywhere you looked didn’t look real, it was like someone had painted this scene in front of us, almost too perfect to be true. The snowy mountains and the moon and the perfect reflection and the golden sun that made us feel like we were back in summer. I was running around taking photos and at the same time, trying to soak it all in.

I have sooooo many photos to share from this trip, and so many more from this one evening but I’ll keep it at this for now while I tackle the editing load. Man I love autumn. Life is good.

An appreciation post for Wānaka, one of the most beautiful places on earth.

These were taken at the beginning of the month whilst out on a location recce for the production I’ve been working on the past week. It’s likely that some of these places I may never of seen had it not been for a work opportunity like this, and for that I am so grateful.
