I felt so lucky to have the opportunity to capture these photos! A massive thank you to Cruise Te Anau, who were incredibly generous with their boat, time, and enthusiasm to help make these shots happen.
By the way, a trip to the South Fiord of Lake Te Anau is fully comparable to the Milford Sound experience - except you get to enjoy its pure serenity all to yourself, without the crowds of tourists! Definitely try it with Cruise Te Anau.

Lake Manapouri from Shallow Bay ☀️ Another beautiful sunny day in Fiordland! We are being pampered by these incredible autumn days. There isn’t a soul in sight - just the serenity of this place. I can listen to the korimako (bellbird) and kakaruwai (robin), while watching playful pīwakawaka (fantail) and plump kererū (wood pigeon) drift through the trees.

Memorable evening sunset over Lake Te Anau and the Murchison Mountains. 📷 We feel so incredibly lucky this autumn; these beautiful sunny days 🌞 feel like a well-deserved payback for such a cold summer.

This view captures the orange sunbeams from the South Fiord illuminating the steep faces of the Murchison's. We’ve been treated to this spectacle nearly every day lately. The best part? There’s no one else here to see it. Everyone assumes it’s a rainy Fiordland autumn - but not this year!

A View from the Top: Mou Waho Island, Lake Wanaka 🚤 Standing at the summit of Mou Waho Island thanks to Lake Wānaka Cruises, you are met with a breathtaking 360-degree vista. 📷 The deep blue waters of Lake Wānaka stretch out to meet the rugged, snow-dusted peaks of the Southern Alps, creating a scene of pure alpine majesty.

While the hidden Arethusa Pool - the famous "lake on an island" - tucks itself quietly into the rocky folds nearby, the view from the lookout captures the dramatic contrast between the island’s steep cliffs and the vastness of the surrounding mountains. The air is crisp and the silence is punctuated only by the calls of native birds; if you look closely, you can even spot the rare, flightless Buff Weka roaming the island’s sanctuary.
