From bump to baby, literally 🥹

We met at the Pregnancy & Baby Fair in April, then drove all the way to Glendalough for a maternity session in the most beautiful light. I loved these two from the start, the way they looked at each other, how close they were and how excited they were to meet their little girl.

A few months later, they came to my studio with her. And there she was, tiny feet, that little swirl of hair, all her lovely folds and those first smiles, cries and cuddles. I loved watching them find their own little way of settling her. It was like she had always been there.

Getting to photograph both parts of their story felt so special. The anticipation and then the baby they already loved so much. I’ll never choose between maternity and newborn. I love seeing the whole story unfold.

If we met at the Irelands Pregnancy & Baby Fair you may remember me talking about my studio maternity sessions. Today, I’d love to show you what one can feel like.

There’s so much to think about when you’re expecting: getting the baby room, cot and pram ready, choosing tiny outfits, working, keeping appointments and trying to find time to rest. That’s a lot! My studio in Dublin 6 is a cosy place to pause for a little while, even on a rainy day.

Choose a dress from my wardrobe, enjoy a cup of coffee, and spend time with your partner. I’ll guide you gently, and we’ll make space for your ideas, your connection, and the way this season feels to you. Your story is always yours. I’m here to photograph it as it unfolds.

Those months can pass so quickly. As a mum of three, I know how easily the little details fade. I wish I had more photographs from that time. The ones I do have mean so much to me and one day, your child may treasure seeing how loved they were before you first met.

Day one at the Pregnancy & Baby Fair in the RDS is all wrapped up and I’m feeling so grateful. 🤍

It’s been lovely meeting so many of you, having little chats and longer conversations and hearing what you love about my work. I especially loved seeing your faces when I showed you the dresses and baby outfits you can borrow for your session. You can simply come to my Dublin studio, relax and enjoy the experience while I take care of the details.

And seeing families I’ve photographed before, watching their little ones grow and hearing there may be a new baby joining the family soon… that’s such a special feeling. Thank you for thinking of me again. It means the world.

We’re unpacking, the little trolley is rolling in, and somehow it still feels a bit unreal to be back at the at the RDS! 🥰

It’s such an amazing feeling to be here again, surrounded by all the brilliant companies. I’m a little family photographer with my trolley full of dresses, leaflets and excitement and I absolutely love the buzz of it all!

Those tiny eyelashes resting against his cheek were the first little detail that caught my eye, such a beautiful reminder of just how new and impossibly small he is.

And then all the other moments: tiny fingers and toes, the way his parents looked at him, their hands meeting around him and the quiet cuddles as they got to know their baby. I wanted to hold onto all of it, the little details and the feeling of being together.

I love the beautiful chaos of growing families.

The toddler who needs a cuddle too. The baby who cries. The little hands reaching in. The laughter in between.

For me, a newborn session has never been only about the newborn.

It’s about all of you. About what life felt like when this tiny person arrived. About the way you held them, the way your older child looked at them, the way everyone was finding their place in this new version of your family.

I’m not looking for the perfect pose, the perfect wrap or the perfect backdrop.

I want the story to feel like yours.

Real. Warm. A little messy sometimes. Full of movement, cuddles, tears, laughter and love.

Because one day, I don’t think you’ll want to remember whether everything looked perfect.

You’ll want to remember how it felt.

And that is the part I never want photography to lose. 🤍
