I worked selling club gear in the Abbey Mall for a good number of years. Let's say mid nineties, Names like Moschino BOY London Stüssy Patrick Ewing, the days of knock off ravers long sleeves.

Opposite me was Abbey discs Lord rest them. So many records. Everyone was lured in by the sound. There was also a young fella down at the corner of the mall selling cassettes with photocopied sleeves, remember them?
dj sets from everywhere.

I really wasn't sure about his blonde good looks to be honest a little bit jealous, he seemed to be suspiciously always happy. He was electric. Hugh was electric.

Instant friends.

I spotted Duke 'So in love with you' in Abbey and I bought it for him, "you really need this" he just said there's a mix on the Bside"Ahhh man thank you" came back the next day "Aidan that record jaysus thank you!" He just kept saying thank you. What i'd give for one more thank you.

No Hugh. Thank you!

To be on this line up. It's just...

I can just about hear them. Probably not even talking about music, maybe happy that time that so many said they loved them. They wore it on their sleeves. Dirty pints in Hogan's I remember.

The heat does strange things. I thought of Jackie's army during Italia 90. 3 stripes and the money lost. The friends gained. Out in the suburbs the light shines and shows. Strayed alley cats.

Remember those half container shops that only sold white mice, chipsticks and coke. Old Mac Donald on an Ice cream vans speaker. A single poxy siren. An itchy dog barks at the black yoga pants.

Tallaghtfornia. The sunset browns down and the sons and daughters have daughters and sons now, screaming to get out of their prams to be Balaclava Scooters.

Slabs of Satzenbrau from the shed. Someone starts singing to escape the anxiety of housing and the sadness of the shadows that make sounds we don't understand. Who delivered the Prawn crackers.

It's going to be a mix of Emotions I'm nearly sure of that. There's a good chance I'll see Brendan and his show for his book and that will set me off.

Never mind some of you Sounders will be there, throwing some questions. I know will be ready for it too.

We'll go back to stories that made us laugh and hopefully help in trying to find out somewhere new to go.

Thank you @333.fest.d6 & them beauts

In the middle of everything today some legend had brought a lawnmower. It made no sense but yet felt apt. Amongst the sandwiches wrapped in foil, sons with their fathers, Mother's and Sisters showing support, there were numerous John Deere tractors, trucks as long as O'Connells legacy, Monsters I'd remembered seeing in Arkansas. Stretching all the way up to the Ambassador.

So many of them...There was my flag, I'd sang to it on the Hill, for my own fathers memory, he'd have been there weeping with the Farmers and Truckers, fighting for scraps at the table. Not on the list of those invited. Just like the days he stood outside Liberty Hall.

Remember when I said that she doesn't love us anymore? Well there she is now in the form of a white collar coalition of sadness, can't talk right now, up to it's eyes. The sadness though faded away fairly quickly in the sunshine when some biker connected his Bluetooth to a speaker and the wind carried an Uileann air across the bridge like a hymn in church.

I know where I stand.
