Happy Halloween!! 🎃🕷️ had fun in the studio this afternoon with Sienna, Destiny as Penniwise and AJ as The Grim reaper. We worked on a box shot together. It was the second time I’d taken their photo, so they really brought the poses today!

They are thinking about booking in a Christmas Box Shot. So just a shout out, if you want to do a family box shot as a Christmas activity then book me now as dates are filling up. If you want it printed ready for Christmas we really have to do it end of November as printers have a cut of time. My printers are awesome and I remember they rushed a job for me last Christmas as I’d missed the deadline 😳🫣

Collaboration is something I’ve always championed - it’s the best thing ever to work with local businesses and last night was a fantastic example.

Lisa’s gorgeous shop Escape Boutique is over the road from my studio, and is full of goodies [I have now a long list of items I want!!] - Lisa teamed up with fabulous stylist Annie Bee [who I photographed last week] for a late night shopping evening for customers to listen to Annie chat through styles, colours and design ideas for a few ladies. Actually lovely to see two of the ladies were past clients of mine!! See, small world isn’t it.

I gave a very short chat about how best to pose, how to make yourself look smaller on selfies, and also how to hold your hand as if you’re holding an egg 😂 all of which makes you feel more comfortable in front of the camera.

Lisa’s team are just lovely - so if you’ve not been into the shop check it out as it has lots of gifts, jewelry and accessories as well as clothing.

I love how parts of my life collaborate and become something really special - I feel that it has happened here with Lisa owner of Escape Boutique and Annie owner of Annie Bee

Escape Boutique is right opposite my studio, so I often walk past their gorgeous windows. I have created a lust list on my phone@of what I’m going to buy next! They have a gorgeous collection of brands, and clothes that you can wear together, including two of my favourite shoe brands FLY London and Gola.

Annie asked me to take her headshots, so we spent half an hour or so at the Loading Bay at Salt Market Social to give her a bright and colourful background - co-incidentally wearing one of Escape’s blouses and jacket! Annie is so friendly and knows what works, it really does help when purchasing your capsule wardrobe and putting your normal daily looks together.

Annie and I are working with Lisa at her open Styling evening on Thursday 29th October, at the shop from 5-8pm. It’s a drop in event, and throughout the evening Annie will be styling three ladies, and I will be taking photos and helping with posing and just feeling comfortable in front of the camera - as I promise you, no one really likes their photo being taken!!

Storytelling, having fun and dressing up as a character are all things that I absolutely love to do, so to work with Mark Harriott to create our Immersive story telling portrait parlour Harriott & Solomon Immersive Portraits I really couldn’t be happier.

The set is designed, created and curated by Mark along with all the costume styling, and I help you embody the character you are portraying and pose you in a relaxed and authentic manner to capture your photo. It’s a time to really just play dress up and have a bit of fun!

It was fun, flirty and lots of references to Richard Gere 😂 among others… think Officer and a Gentlemen… US sailor comes and sweeps local lass off her feet..

FIGHTS?

To be honest, I’m really not surprised there were fights at The Jungle. The Doormen, some of them boxers, needed to be tough and weigh in on the mayhem inside before it got out of hand. You had sailors with loads of money, months of unspent salary and looking for some fun and “relaxation” and you had regular locals who were just there to drink pints and try and pull a barmaid or local girl who was in there.

Competition would have been tough, especially for the pretty girls. Add to that a whole pile of b**r and a tonne of testosterone and you’ve got yourself a tinder box! Locals V Sailors. 🥊

Lads might have worn relaxed sports tops and suede jackets, hair a bit longer than these days, with “curtain”fringes. Thanks to Simon for modelling one of Mark’s fantastic wigs.

Justine, dressed as a stunning barmaid or could be a local lass, wearing a bobbed blonde wig, completely changing her look as her natural hair is thick, long and black! Justine | The Workshop | Crafting Workshops

Lots of people would be smoking tabs, quite normal in pubs on the 1970s, but these are stage ci******es, so completely safe to hold only.

Sessions are 20minutes with a maximum of four people per group. You will be styled and dressed with clothes fitting over your own, then Emma will chat through your character and suggest some poses. As part of your experience you will receive one colour print.

After our incredible dress rehearsal, really excited to share some of our images with you. MASSIVE thanks to Pauline and Simon for becoming our 1970s couple.

For those who don’t remember, smoking used to be everywhere - pubs, cinemas and even backs of planes 😂 it was as hideous as you can imagine and we all came home stinking of tabs. [These ci******es are electric no-nicotine used in TV and Film, so completely safe. On the day you will be able to hold a cigarette, but not actually smoke it.]

Hair and styling by is exceptional. These garments are designed to go over your own clothes. The large collars and bow tie of Simon’s outfit, reminiscent of what the Doormen would have worn, they would be clip on ties so that they could never be strangled in all those fights!

Pauline looks beautiful, with her bright red dress and big hair!

If you’d like to dress as one of our characters and step into our authentic set, and be photographed, then message us to book in. It’s better to book in advance so you can guarantee a time slot.
Sessions are 20 minutes on the hour, you’ll come away with one colour photo for £25, and options to print more or purchase the whole set.
