Anyone recognise the dance these guys are recreating? 😂🕺
A photograph from a party I covered last year, and exactly the sort of moment I love catching — completely spontaneous and everybody just having fun.

I realised recently that I haven’t shown enough of this side of Paul Brewer Photography.

As well as portraits and weddings, I photograph parties, birthdays, anniversaries, proms, corporate events and all sorts of celebrations across Dorset and further afield.
My event photography is relaxed and unobtrusive — capturing the important photographs you want, but also watching for moments like this that nobody could possibly have planned!

✈️ A little piece of Weymouth history…
On this day, 20th August 2014, the RAF Red Arrows hurtled across the Weymouth sky during Carnival Day — captured here climbing above one of my favourite Weymouth landmarks, Nothe Fort.
Thousands of people would gather around the bay for the display, with the Fort providing one of the best viewpoints in town. Sadly, it’s a summer tradition we no longer have, which makes photographs like this increasingly special to look back on.
The Nothe Fort has also been a fantastic supporter of my photography over the years. I’ve photographed weddings, events, historical weekends and plenty of other memorable moments there, so it regularly appears in my archives!

🍂 A beautiful autumn wedding in Studland, Dorset
Mark and Rosie’s wedding is a lovely example of why autumn can be such a wonderful time to get married in Dorset.
They’re both keen cyclists, quite shy in front of the camera, and wanted their photography to feel relaxed and low key. They booked me for 8 hours of coverage across three locations, beginning at the beautiful St Nicholas Church in Studland, followed by a short walk and a few relaxed portraits on Studland Beach, before heading to their reception at Bulbury Woods Golf Club.
There was no long photoshoot and no pressure to spend ages posing — just enough time to create some lovely portraits before getting them back to enjoying their wedding with family and friends.
I’ve put together the full story from their day, including the church, beach, Purbeck countryside and evening celebrations.

World Photography Day 📷
I took this photograph on Sunday at Brooklands Museum in Surrey, and for me it says something about much more than photography.
That old “PROGRESS” jigsaw immediately made me think of Every Valley by Public Service Broadcasting — an album about the rise and decline of the Welsh coal industry, and in particular that very 1960s and 70s belief that progress and technology were going to make the future better.
It also took me straight back to being a kid watching Tomorrow’s World on the BBC, fascinated by all those inventions and ideas about what life might look like in the future.
Of course, the future hasn’t always turned out quite as people imagined.
But I still believe in progress.
Look at what has happened in medicine, renewable energy, sustainability, engineering, science and creativity. New technology still fascinates me, and clever people finding better ways of doing things genuinely excites me.
Photography is part of that too.
The cameras I use today would have seemed almost unbelievable when I first became interested in photography. Digital cameras, incredible sensors, editing software and now new creative technologies have completely changed what is possible.
But the important bit hasn’t changed.
You still need to see something.
You still need curiosity.
You still need to learn.
And I think that’s why this photograph resonated with me so much.
I never want to feel that I’ve finished learning or that the way I do something today must be the way I do it tomorrow. Whether it’s photography, technology or life in general, I always want to believe that I can make progress.
Quite an appropriate thought for World Photography Day.

A really lovely **5-star review** to share this Sunday — thank you so much, Kalliopi. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I photographed her son’s baptism at St Anne’s Orthodox Church, and it was such a special family occasion to be part of.

Kalli very kindly asked that I didn’t share photographs showing her son, which of course I completely respect, so I’ve used a photo of the beautiful church instead. Client privacy always comes first.

Her words really meant a lot:

“Paul captured the essence of our son’s baptism so beautifully. Every photo feels natural, heartfelt and full of the emotion of the day. We are truly grateful to have these precious memories to treasure. Thank you, Paul!”

Reviews like this genuinely make my day. Knowing that the photographs have captured not just what happened, but how the day felt, is exactly what I hope to achieve.

A Fantastic Evening with Kerry Ryan at the Maiden Castle Farm Sunflower Sundown, always a pleasure to visit, Hazel and her team have done an excellent job of bringing Sunflower sunshine to Dorset this summer, the music from Vinyl Van and Stickleback Jack was brilliant, it was the perfect summer's evening, the trail is open until Sunday, they are supporting the Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust's charity, a very worthwhile cause, the site is really well signposted, accessible and has toilets, plus a nice array of refreshments, you can even buy Sunflowers to take home, so if you haven't been, get down to Maiden Castle over the next few days and get some flower power vibes into your life 🌻🌞
