Ok, long post but please bear with it...

I’ve seen so many posts recently from brides who’ve been “let down” at the last minute by their photographer and are suddenly scrambling to find someone else.

Honestly, this shocks me.

As a Qualified Professional and a Director of the BIPP (British Institute of Professional Photography), I genuinely struggle to understand how this situation is even allowed to happen.

Imagine the stress. You’re excited, counting down the days… and then you’re LET DOWN. No photographer. No reassurance. Now you’ve got to find someone else at short notice (hard enough!) and then somehow trust they won’t let you down too. That’s not exactly the calm, joyful lead-up every bride deserves.

And then what? Chase refunds? Rely on insurance claims? That’s not something any couple should be worrying about in the run up to their wedding.

Why am I shocked by this? It's not because I don't understand that people (even photographers) have things happen in their lives, it's because surely any "professional" supplying a service for a good amount of money should have contingency plans. Especially for something as important as someone's wedding!

As a fully professional photography business I have a contract, template supplied and backed by my insurers, which clearly states:

"If for any reason I am unable to attend your wedding, I will supply a photographer of equal skill."

That’s not an “insurance claim” situation. That’s not an excuse. That’s not an easy opt-out.

It’s a contractual obligation.

If I cannot attend, I must provide a replacement photographer of equal standard at my cost. You don’t claim. You don’t stress. You don’t panic.
