This is a photo I took at the 2024 Whitby Goth Weekend of Marko & Helen dressed as Ozzie & Cruella.
Marko messaged me to say he lost Helen at the beginning of July 26 and Helen’s wish was to have her ashes spread of the Black Pearl boat between the two piers at Whitby harbour.
The Pirate festival have arranged this for 3.30pm this Sunday 30th August. In true Whitby spirit the Pirates are going to gather on the pier to make this a special send off for Helen.
I’m often asked why I enjoy photographing the festivals at Whitby and it’s simple really its the people when Marko reached out and told me about Helen and he had messaged me because this photo of them was her favourite made me feel proud I have captured that moment for them.
