I have no words right now 🤯🤯🤯 except EPIC!!! Just had this wolverine for 40 minutes!!!!! My goodness some of the photos I got I can’t wait to share them with you all but I feel they don’t deserve to be shared straight from camera, so just going to share this one photo of our amazing time with this fabulous wolverine until I can edit the rest properly

Well… that’s the closest I’ve come to bopping a bear on the nose! 😂😂

I genuinely thought he was going to join me through my ground level shooting hole — the heart rate certainly picked up! This absolute beauty showed up just 30 minutes ago and gave me quite the close encounter.

A few straight from camera shots for you 🐾📸

Night 2 nearly done and dusted was another fabulous night with 8 bear visits and a white tailed eagle for 6 hours, majority of the ones I took tonight were on the camera not linked to my phone so here are a few more straight from camera photos from night one in the Forrest Hide

Last night was absolutely everything I hoped for — and then some. 🐻

Ten bear visits. TEN. I’m still pinching myself.

Sitting in that hide in the Finnish forest, not quite knowing what was coming… and then they just kept arriving. One by one. Bear after bear after bear. It was nothing short of magical.

Now it’s time for some sleep — because tonight we do it all again. 🌲✨ a few straight from camera shots

Three years ago I stood in Alaska — one of the most wild, breathtaking places I have ever been — and I came home without seeing a single wild bear. 🐻

Not one.

The only bears I saw on that whole trip were in a sanctuary, and as magical as that was in its own way, I won’t lie… a little part of me was gutted.

Bears are my absolute favourite animal. They always have been. There’s something about them that just gets me — that raw, powerful, quiet wildness. I’d dreamed of Alaska for so long, and I left with that one small ache still sitting in my chest.

I never quite let it go.

And TODAY… I’m heading to Finland. 🌲

This year has already been one of the most extraordinary of my life — moments I genuinely dreamed of that have actually come true, one by one. My book. My workshops. The Photography show. Things I once only hoped for quietly.

And now this. Another dream, dusted off and packed into a suitcase.

I don’t know what Finland will bring. Maybe I’ll finally get lucky. Maybe the forest will have other ideas. But I’m going with an open heart and everything crossed — and honestly, just being there feels like enough. 🤍

Here’s to wild places and second chances. 🐾

These images are not easy viewing, and I know some of you will find them hard to look at. But this is nature, raw and real, and I think it’s just as important to document and share these moments as it is the beautiful ones.

A herring gull has taken a black-headed gull chick at RSPB Saltholme — and the colony was having absolutely none of it. The black-headed gulls mob in furious defence, and what I love about this sequence is the avocet that has joined the chase. Pure instinct, pure chaos, captured in two frames seconds apart.

Nature isn’t always comfortable. But it’s always honest. 🐦

📸 One of the questions I get asked most before my Discover the Art of Seabird Photography workshops is “will my lens be big enough?”

And I completely understand the worry — you see images of gannets filling the frame and assume you need a massive telephoto to join in. So I want to put that worry to rest once and for all. 🙌

Caroline came along to Bempton Cliffs with this Canon EOS and an 18-150mm lens and the exact same worry— and look what she came home with. 😍

Every single one of these images was taken on that kit, on the day of the workshop. That close-up gannet eye? That mid-air chaos at the colony? That gannet coming in to land, feet down, eyes locked? All hers. All 150mm.

Bempton is one of those truly special places where the birds are right there — circling above you, landing metres away, filling the air all around you. You don’t need to be far away. You don’t need huge glass. You just need to be there.

So whatever you’re shooting with, please don’t let kit anxiety stop you from spending a glorious day at the UK’s best seabird colony. 🐦 You’ve got everything you need.

Workshop spaces are still available this season — link in bio.

That expression. Fish in bill, another gannet surfacing right beside it with that look in its eye — the one that says it has absolutely clocked what’s happening and has plans. You can almost see the first gannet thinking don’t you dare. The North Sea is a competitive place to have lunch.
