Ercall Rangers 6–1 Shawbury United Development

It was always going to be a dominant finish, but Ercall needed a win to finish the 25/26 season unbeaten and that’s exactly what they did. A goal inside the first 5 minutes set the tone for what turned into a scorching afternoon. With the sun beating down and temperatures soaring, everyone was feeling it, but the goals kept coming as Ercall ran out 6-1 winners.

The celebrations carried on after the final whistle as the trophy was lifted and Ercall Rangers were officially crowned Division One champions of the Salop Leisure League, securing promotion to the Premier Division, the top tier of the Salop Leisure League.

Absolutely thrilled for everyone involved. An unbeaten season, league champions and promotion. A fantastic achievement and fully deserved.

Shropshire Saturday Challenge Cup Final - Wrockwardine Wood Development FC V Dawley Town FC 1-4

A trip to AFC Telford United’s ground, The Bucks Head, saw Wood Devs face Dawley in a showstopper SFA Cup final. Dawley may have entered as favourites, but Wood Devs made sure it was anything but straightforward. The first half ended 3-0 to Dawley, however a stunning strike from outside the box by Wood meant there was still a game to play. With rough tackles flying in and no cards being shown, it made for a superb and fiercely competitive final. Dawley grabbed another late goal to seal the victory, crowning themselves champions of the tournament in style.

Shropshire FA Management Cup Final - Wrockwardine Wood U9 Girls V Prees United U9 Girls

A trip to Ludlow this morning in the sunshine as we waited for the long-awaited Wood v Prees finale. It was a dominant performance from Wood from start to finish, with goals flying in throughout the game against Prees. A brilliant match with a great atmosphere all round.

The U9 girls played unbelievably well too, putting on a performance even better than the first team men lol.

Ludlow Town F.C. were fantastic hosts for today’s Shropshire FA competition finals.

Bridgnorth Spartans FC V Wrockwardine Wood FC 1-1

A short trip down the A442 saw Wood face Spartans for the second time this season in their final game. What was expected to be a dominant performance turned on its head, ending in a hard fought 1-1 draw. Not quite a high, not quite a low, but a solid point to close out the campaign. The weather played its part too, with 18°C and blue skies setting the scene for the final whistle of the season. It felt like the perfect way to wrap up the 2025/26 campaign.

I couldn’t be prouder. My first full season as Wrockwardine Wood photographer has been nothing short of special. From big wins to tough defeats and everything in between, it has been a privilege to document the journey.

Wrockwardine Wood FC V Bridgnorth Spartans FC 3-0

Back home for a scorching game of football as Wood faced Spartans for the first time this season. An unknown test, with points needed after a difficult couple of weeks. Unusually, the British weather delivered blue skies and 20-degree heat. Wrockwardine were sharp in the first half and well on top but couldn’t find the finishing touch. The second half told a different story. One became two, then three, as Wood took full control of the game. A couple of decisions saw them reduced to ten men, but it didn’t stop the momentum.

The final whistle confirmed a solid three points. Attention now turns to next week, with a short trip to Bridgnorth to face Spartans away, marking a rare back-to-back league meeting between the two sides, which will also be the final game of the season.

NC United FC V Wrockwardine Wood FC 4-3

A trip over to Wellington on what should have been a sunny day of football and a game that looked straightforward on paper quickly turned into something very different. True to form, the British weather had other ideas, and at times it felt like Wrockwardine struggled to get the ball under control, the game becoming more like tennis as it went back and forth.

It was a scrappy encounter throughout, lacking any real flow but still full of effort. Unfortunately, NC edged it 4–3 in the end, leaving Wood to head home narrowly missing out on a point.

AFC FC Nations V Cruckton Rovers FC 2-0

It’s been a while since I last photographed Sunday League, but at least the weather played its part. Nations returned to the TrueBuild Ltd. Shrewsbury & District Sunday League to face Cruckton Rovers FC at home.

There were no goals in the first half, with the referee’s whistle blowing a little too often, but Nations came back strong after the break, scoring twice in the second half to seal the final result.
