I was delighted to be able to capture some images of the great at the last weekend.

I was particularly taken with his first glorious horse (whose name I have regrettably already forgotten thanks to mum brain) with a zesty and spirited nature 🐎

The evening was a wonderful mix of humour, entertainment, skill and education. While it has been a number of years since I was in the saddle, I left feeling a renewed sense of love for show jumping!

Do you struggle to know where to capture your business imagery or what backdrops you want?

Of course any backdrops need to look like they fit your brand 'image'. Even the backgrounds need to feel like they 'fit' with the style you are trying to create.

Towns such as Shrewsbury, Bridgnorth, Much Wenlock and Church Stretton provide perfectly pretty backdrops for a whole range of imagery opportunities.

Here's my why. As a mum of two small girls, I knew my time with my kids was non-negotiable. I wanted to pick them up from school, take them to classes, be at their school plays....just do all the things mum's often don't get to do these days.

Has it meant struggling for the past few years? Yes....being self employed is NOT for the faint of heart! But, I have worked with wonderful people and absolutely LOVE the work I do....I also get time...time with the people who need me the most....and to me, that is worth so much more than money 🥰

What should professional photography do for you?

Using social media, means being confronted daily with marketing, advertising, small business owners selling their services and expertise, corporations pushing the latest deal, the latest product, the latest trend. High Quality imagery is everywhere, there is no escaping it.

But, have you every stopped to ponder the imagery we see every day? Does it serve a purpose? Does it tell a story? Imagery shouldn't be random, it needs to be considered, planned and thoughtful.

Your brand imagery should highlight the following:

📸 What you do
📸 Your personality (hints of your favourite colour, locations based upon where you love to be, a subtle hint to your passions)
📸 How you make people feel - this one is a big one! If your imagery can feature your clients and how you make them feel - BONUS!

Travel was a huge part of my life for most of my 20’s, living and working in Africa and France...and working in tourism taught me one very important lesson:

👉 People don’t buy destinations. They buy experiences.

In every place I worked, I saw the same pattern again and again. It wasn’t just about the location or the price... it was about how guests felt.

Every part of your business fits together to create an experience for your guests.

✅ Walking into a beautiful, clean, comfortable room.
✅ Delighting over the breakfast options.
✅ Finding a sun lounger by the pool.
✅ A great day on the beach.

In 2026, visuals aren’t decoration. They’re credibility. People decide whether to trust a business in seconds, and imagery does the heavy lifting before a single word is read.

Stock photos are quietly losing their power. What’s rising instead is recognisable, human, repeatable imagery. The same face. The same space. The same feeling, month after month.

There’s a quiet shift happening in marketing right now, and most small businesses feel it before they can name it. The old advice of “post more, shout louder, follow the trends” is starting to feel exhausting rather than effective.

In 2026, visibility is no longer about volume. It’s about coherence. Businesses that are winning aren’t everywhere. They’re recognisable. Their message sounds the same on social, email, website, and in real life conversations.

What I’m noticing locally is this: people don’t want more content. They want fewer, better signals that say “this business knows who it’s for”. Something interesting is coming that’s built around this exact idea...coming soon...

Another slow and steady Christmas and New Year, enjoying time with each other on country walks, huggled in front of the fire, and exploring our local castle ruins.

Switching off feels good. Although my ADHD often doesn't allow for rest, I resisted the urge to be 'on the go' every day.

Sitting still has allowed me to formulate new ideas for 2026. I have an exciting subscription service launching any day now and I am excited about getting some of you on board...watch this space...
